Wait before you do that. It depends on a lot of factors. We don’t have enough information to make an educated decision for you. We don’t know if you have debt, your income, current tax situation, etc. i have financial advisor that you can speak to free of charge. He does not take anything until your assests are over $100,000. If not you can speak to him about finances.
Wow. May i get in contact with him too?
In our mid 30's, what's the better play here? Rollover to a Roth IRA and pay taxes now, or to try and figure out getting it to a traditional IRA and pay taxes later?
While it feels better to convert to Roth you should have someone run the numbers (as Deloitte 1 said). They may tell you to save the tax and let it stay traditional
You can roll 401k from prior employer into a self directed IRA. People are too quick on the Roth conversion . All else equal, better to defer taxes than pay today - Do this if your current tax rate is less than your usual tax rate ("t usual"). Dont just do it because you can. This is akin to the paying off your mortgage early crowd.
On Roth you don’t pay taxes on the growth, on traditional you do. That is why Roth is generally preferable.
Will look at what everyone above said.
And further context ... lower income (associate and single income) with little debt.
Thanks all
