Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations
Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?
What jobs are currently paying 85k?
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

They want workers dependent and with fewer rights. And it's working, the market is so bad that employers know they have the upper hand.

Yeah they can do almost whatever they want currently, looking for new jobs is so hard.
Their goal is likely to make your life harder so that you quit, so there probably isn't much you can do if you want to keep your job. This is how companies get their numbers down without having to go through a layoff.
Coach
Yeah I’ve heard quite a few companies have been doing this recently which is terrible.
It's a silent layoff. They're looking to convince people to leave.
Coach
Unfortunately and fortunately it will probably work.
There’s not much you’ll be able to do. Potentially make your case for how you work better from home, but I don’t think that will sway opinions much.
Coach
I think most people do but unfortunately companies don’t usually care for this argument.
