For those of you who made the switch to in house/corporate law, what was your experience like? Did you have to take a lower position to gain the experience or were you able to argue that your soft skills were transferable to in house? I’ve been in litigation for 15 years and I’m looking to make the switch. Ultimately, I’d like to get into Legal Ops, but feel getting some in house experience first would be beneficial.

I’m trying to pivot to PM after >3 years in finance and I have a 2nd round interview with CPO this week. Company has 3.7 on Glassdoor with complaints about CEO, “bro-y” culture, and hard to wfh. It’s a data analytics company with 5 PMs, was bought by a PE firm this year, and has a new (female) CEO as of Oct. Role is 50/50 hybrid, pays well vs what I make, and most importantly would be a foot in the door to PM. Is this a good place to be for PM? What else do I need to find out to know for sure?

I’m a new hire and currently the only creative on a team of developers. I’ve requested Figma—but IT has pushed back, asking for “detailed business justification… explaining it is beneficial or will assist in day-to-day tasks”.

I’ve already provided info of that nature directly from Figma’s website. Suggestions on what else might convince them?

Setting healthy boundaries with family is HARD. Specifically a family that suppresses emotions, gets defensive, won’t talk out conflict, tons of gaslighting.

It’s so hard to stay connected when I’m so misunderstood and disrespected constantly. It’s never huge, but a constant 3-4 out of 10 no matter the day. We never talk about anything.

I’m just so exhausted trying to make it work with them. I don’t have many friends (hey pandemic) and it’s so, so lonely.

With my background, how do I break into a finance or accounting role? What positions do I apply for? I would like to make at least 45-50k a year min starting if possible.

Is there such things as FP&A positions in Big 4? If so, are there better times to make the change than others (I.e. at senior vs manager)? I have a finance degree from UGA, but all of my experience (3.5 years) is in sales (tech and real estate), so no relevant internships unfortunately. Any advice on how to market myself better and where I should be looking would be greatly appreciated!
