I had interviewed with Deloitte UK consulting in June/July and was called by the HR team by the end of July that the interviews were positive and they're sending for approval for an offer to be rolled out. I was called back later in September and told that the role is on hold due to a hiring freeze. Is anyone else in this situation and have you'll heard back from the HR team post that

Posting so if anyone comes across this company — don’t bother, for now. Growing pains at this company and not a defined culture. Integrity isn’t high on the list of importance.
Received an offer, went through conflicts clearance in good faith, and then got a call rescinding it using the conflict in Iran and AWS Middle East data center concerns as the excuse. Had me on the phone for over 10 minutes while they apologized and hoped I hadn’t given notice. It was fishy but I said whatever and went on about my life. A recruiter called me for the same position two weeks after.
Things I noticed: not organized as the job posting changed several times and their in house recruiter wasn’t aware of the various changes. Low balled on salary for several months and increased it. I genuinely liked the company so even went forth on the lower than market rate and asking for a guaranteed bonus of 15k — most likely caused issues — while their in house recruiter said usually legal gets up to 20%+ bonus. So either they were trying to seal the deal or it is true.
Throughout the process they touted transparency as a core value. They don’t practice what they preach. Speaking with a former employee confirmed this isn’t isolated — turnover is reportedly high and people are leaving consistently.
What’s telling is that after all of this they made zero effort to preserve the relationship or acknowledge how it was handled. They lied to preserve me as a back up and the relationship, but the lie actually ruined it. No follow up, no accountability, nothing. In a field this small and interconnected that’s a significant oversight. I’ll leave it at that.
If they had just been honest it wouldn’t have been an issue — it’s business. The lie is the problem.
