If you have time and energy, get the offer first. If you dont want to waste your time on Analyst role, say up front that you are not interested in analyst role but senior analyst role.
Role. The company reached out to me for the position but I ended up liking what I heard. I am 8 years out of undergrad with an MBA from a top 10. I was considering negotiating salary in addition to having my title upgraded to Senior Analyst (after this the level would be manager). I’m willing to go down to senior analyst level but going down to analyst would essentially be like starting my career all over again. (Took a look at LinkedIn and many people in the analyst position are only recent graduates with 3-4 years experience). Has anyone negotiated a title after receiving an offer or did you bring this up pre-offer? If so, how did you approach this. Advice is much appreciated!
Sometimes you have to take a step back to take a step forward. If you like what you are hearing, I say just get yourself into the company. As someone who is in recruiting, I feel like that could be a lot of asks because it wouldn’t just be a title change from our end, it would switch up the metrics for a lot of stuff downstream. I’d rather ask about the progression scale/average time at level and if there is some sort of accelerated promotion schedule. I understand you have a lot of experience/multiple degrees but depending on the person you speak with, it could be asking for a lot. Even if you do come in as an analyst, your MAL (months at level) and progression point could be high enough to where you get a super quick promotion (within a year of joint the firm).
