If you were qualified then you will be more qualified in a few months when things are more normal. Don’t sweat it
I would suggest to try to move to another member firm after Covid calms down. I think it will be easier to transfer within the network than finding a job at a different firm and the culture is very different from member firm to member firm. Also, if you are open to relocating further away, you might not have to wait as long since it seems that we are bouncing back a bit earlier in some European countries and will thus probably start hiring again earlier
Definitely depends on country and service line. Scandinavia and Netherlands should be fine with English for most advisory departments. Audit is tricky no matter what due to IFRS, US GAAP, local GAAP. DACH Region without German is hard although it can be done if they really want you. And the more tech focused you are the easier this is in my experience. Southern Europe (Spain, Italy, France) probably not possible without speaking and writing the local language fluently.
Also some departments are definitely no go without speaking the local language for example healthcare/infrastructure/public sector teams in most of Europe as you work with government clients which normally require local language
Wait it out and try again post covid. Nothing happening now anywhere.
They pushed the interview or the offer?
