Netflix’s declared policy is “we give adequate performers a generous severance package so that we can find a star for that position.” Is that true in practice?

What's Amazon policy for top performer? Lol

funny

I don’t know anyone who has gotten canned and had to find out if this policy is true, lol.

They have a huge turnover rate. I think there's something like a 50% chance of surviving the first year. So, yeah, I do think they actually practice what they say.

like

This is wrong on so many. levels.

like

Ouch.

Wait so you're saying if you are an average performer, you get a "generous" severance package to be replaced by an outstanding performer? That's unsustainable!

I agree with G1, I don't think it's actually practiced - it would end up costing them way more in the long run to do this. My question would be around how they decide adequate performance etc. It kinda sounds like you get managed out, which would be incredibly stressful

That's some lovely worded bs. Just beautiful.

Hi! I’ve been approached by Securonix for a Sales Director role in NA. I know the field and their competitors. The pay is good but I’ve seen a handful of websites with employee rating that is really bad. Each site has roughly 10 reviews but most are negative. Mostly referring to toxic culture and zero work life balance. How true is this in this sales org and the company in general? This is a backfill role after a 3 year tenure for the person who left.

Has anyone reevaluated their retirement methods after a life-altering experience? So, I started investing a lot less. But I always see people on here talking about all of these retirement schemes (backdoor Roth, mega-backdoor Roth, etc.) and I’m wondering if there’s a happy middle ground somewhere.

Additional Posts in Tech

I've been interviewing with some companies, and now I have to decide between JPMorgan Chase and Globant.

Globant is more innovative, and has remote work. I will enter to work with a Sillicon Valley startup based in San Francisco. The tech stack is React, Nextjs, AWS, and a serverless architecture.

JPM is semi remote, and less innovative. The tech stack Java, SpringBoot and AWS. But I'd do more migration tasks, like dockerize projects and pass them to kubernetes. What would you choose?

I’m up for a promotion at work and I have no idea how much to ask for since it’s not a standard position. Currently I’m a team lead and manage about 8 technicians, my promotion will be to a regional service delivery manager, and I will be managing over 30 in 3 locations.
