Is it easy for engineers to become TPMs?
I had interviewed for an internship position at EY for technology consultant program for summer 2022 and got a call where they extended an offer. I wanted to know if I can defer the internship offer to fall 2022 or a later start date after summer.
I apologize as I cannot reply to a comment or DM on this platform to anyone, but thanks for your answers in advance.

I would still jump. Big4 is unlikely to take away offers. If they do decide to do layoffs, which all the big 4 besides Deloitte were very against, they will start by getting rid of the low performers first. Also, if you are a senior or manager, you are even safer. All the firms are understaffed in these positions, so odds of layoff is even lower. Try to transfer, and work your butt off so you aren’t considered a weak performer. You will be fine.
Note. This applies to jumps if you switch services lines. I don’t think there’s enough ROI to justify jumping within service line.
Definitely make the jump and take advantage of how all of the big 4 are paying out big money to bring in more seniors
You’re still in a slave trade so why do you say it’s a dumb move? Empires require slaves, you’ll always be welcome

All these people telling you to jump should tell you to stay right where you are. Always do the opposite of what a bunch of strangers on the internet are telling you to do. They won't pay your bills if ish hits the fan

P4 - I think it’s pretty easy to tell who’s worth keeping even after 3 months.
No, def move to get a pay bump. PwC just had some awesome raises in most departments. Let me know if you need a referral.
@D3 lmao indeed DM for referral if youd like
Interest you how? If you’re gonna jump don’t jump for another Audit role….
I jumped for another audit role and am a lot happier now
Let me know if you want a referral
Definitely jump, I just did to a big 4 the recession will not affect public accounting much
Do it! (I am too lol) My experience tells me that big 4 are actually less likely to lay people off during recession as long as you are a good performer. We are always busy no matter what…
Great thinking. Really nice opportunity to improve salary and groups. I can help you get networked and connected to folks in your desired city and group.
Shoot me a DM if interested and we can make it happen
You should just move on if you think it’s right opportunity. If in audit recession will not be big deal. If in consulting it may but depends on which group

Consulting always does best on extremes - whether depression/recession or boom. It’s the middle times where people are just “waiting” for something to happen that’s the worst.
Literally in same position, was worried about trying to move from D to P given the recession scares but then i realized.. it’s not that serious trying to predict the economy and every moment of the future.
All i know is i’m currently unhappy and want a change, what’s meant for me will be. Life has its up and downs regardless, we are in accounting which is a very stable career regardless of the economy.
I say interview and see what they are offering, you already have a secure job so you have upper hand in negotiations. if it doesn’t feel right or you feel like it’s not worth the jump, then don’t do it! However if they are offering you something that seems like worth making the switch, then go for it! it doesn’t hurt to at least see what your options are.
If you’d like a referal please let me know! Happy to refer you here!
Big4 layoff for real with the real recession, only partners left🤣
