"Equipment change" is airline standard phraseology. You can guess what "equipment" refers to.
If the delay wasn't weather, complain. They'll likely toss a few miles your way.
Never seen the movie actually. It's an industry term which I would expect you to know being you're from Deloitte.
You probably won't get much for a 1.5hr delay. If you missed a connection maybe but I wouldn't even bother calling in.
Only real assholes can planes "equipment". You've watched catch me if you can one too many times
Support folk at AA are pretty brutal -- status will not affect (EP confirmed).
You're better off not wasting your time.
Generally AA won't give compensation until you actually land. Have had pushback but I have pushed back with flight facts (i.e., weather may be a delay factor but not the only cause, but customer service sees it as weather). Recommendation is call elite line when you land and ask for miles/e voucher and explain the situation
Does anyone have any experience getting things from AA when they complain?

@P1, thank you. There was weather earlier although weather wasn't the cause of our delay. I'm sure it was all about getting passengers to another hub for connecting flights
@BCG1 copy that.
If only a few hours, likely 5k miles max. With 10-12 hour delays (re routes, overnight), have gotten $300
Try complaining anyways - you need to complain the same day and make it sound like you missed something really important. I complained about the same issue when it happened twice and got fewer miles when I complained the day after since the policy thought I hadn't been impacted as badly
You are AA Gold. There is like 6 other boarding groups before you. The damn AA credit card holders have priority over you. Complain all you want because AA values your business.
Disclaimer: I live in a Delta hub city.
You never know until you ask. I've gotten some surprising comps. But I'm CK
You miss out on 100% of the miles from customer service you don't ask for.
