An accountant is someone who wanted to be an actuary but didn’t have enough personality.
Go ahead and take the first actuarial exam. That might help with your decision making. Keep in mind that average travel time through all the exams to be a fully credentialed actuary is 8-9 years.

How are you a tax manager w/o CPA? EA?
I know people
Also I’m not in PA , doing tax informational reporting - you need to know more about how to communicate with technology ect
If you don’t want to do the CPA then you definitely don’t want to do actuarial exams
It’s like being back in college math courses for the prelims
See that’s the thing I liked calculus and math
Math is kinda of in my DNA
Both my parents are math majors
I have heard it’s tough

Pick one and just do it! You’ll either realize that you’re “amped” for it or not. If it’s not then go to the next thing.
I think I’m kinda realizing that
The coding bootcamp is a waste for the most part. If you really want to go that road do it the right way and get a masters in comp sci.
Get a CFA
Yea I’ve been told this before too :)
I’m in the same position! Kicked myself for not becoming an actuary. Def have a love for math/calculus and accounting is far from that 🥲
Well you know how
When you’re
Good at math people tell you become an accountant

You want to work in insurance? Do actuaries have real opportunities outside of that? I worked in tax for an insurance company and I felt like the actuary group was pretty awful. Couldn't get those guys to do anything because they claimed to be so busy. Took our CFO pounding on the door to get something pushed through for a significant tax accounting method change. Tax benefit was like 4M not immaterial!
It is I just want here stories of how bad it is lol
If you like math and solving puzzles (which audit is like to a degree, right?), coding might be right up your alley!
I don't have an audit background, instead I have a technical background. And solving puzzles is all I do, utilizing math.
D&A is the future after all and often times they're looking for people with an audit background..

There’s been a lot of negative press recently about the future of Data Science as a career.
There was a big boom where every company was investing in AI and machine learning only to realize only a select few companies need that level of sophistication where the rest just need low level coders to scrub some sql databases and maybe run some python or R scripts.
I would also say your typical software dev position is very math lite which is why people with no background and a coding bootcamp can do ok in those roles
