In 2025 I changed employers and accidentally over contributed to my 401k (by less than USD1000). Apparently the deadline to report this was 3/15. I was totally unaware and only realized it yesterday (3/18). I have reached out to both employers and neither can help with the corrective distribution.

Anyone has a suggestion on what to do? Any recommendations of a tax advisor in the nyc area?

I’ve always been a big saver minimum 15% to maxing out my 401k since I graduated college. I’m married to someone who thinks 6% is enough and likes $$$ cars. Other than the cars, they dont really spend money. For the married 🐠, how do you have the conversation with them that what they are doing isn’t enough? I try to guide them and say you want the $$$ cars but the salary you have won’t get there and you’re going to have to find a job that gets them the salary…. Then the fight starts.

What are the benefits they provide if we have to work from office at Bangalore.

Base is at 180k, after tax, insurance , 401k and ESPP (max out), my bi-weekly pay is only like 3600 (like 8000 monthly). Can people really save this kind of money, or most people rely on their stock appreciation?
