My buddy works at KPMG and he doesn’t talk about work when we meet. The only people who talk about how bad everything is are the people who work at Deloitte . Just because people who work at KPMG don’t feel the need to defend themselves doesn’t make it a bad place to be. They do good work and get paid well.

D2 - Playing up to your usual stereotype! Well done. Here’s a cookie.

As far as the world is concerned Big4 is Big4. The fact that D and PWC work 25 percent harder for 10 percent higher pay really doesn’t matter to anyone beyond FB. Kpmg is probably winning, if you really think about it.
Pwc doesn’t even get paid well.
Honestly kpmg reminds me of Hufflepuff. Solid, good people who don’t get the recognition they deserve. And they’re better than the D bags at Slytherin.
Omg completely accurate
I love working at KPMG. Had offers from other big 4 but the vibes I got from the KPMG team I interviewed with were miles better than the others. Very down to earth, inviting, open, etc.

Nothing at all wrong or bad with KPMG. Globally, KPMG is the brunt of the jokes because they're the only B4 not headquartered in London and they're the smallest B4. That's pretty much it.
The ribbing you see on here is effectively a meme and 9 times out of 10 is just a joke. That remaining time is sour grapes, the same you see for every other brand name firm.
Ex KPMG here - great experience and never felt the need to defend myself because we were working half the hours as competitors and making about the same in my line of work. 10/10 would go back or hire them any day of the week.
“Half the hours” perked my ears up
Short answer, and maybe biased, no. I’m at KPMG, I interviewed and received offers from other big 4. I ended up at KPMG because I enjoyed and appreciated the team I was going. They were polite, professional, and seemed like they cared to actually get to know me during my interview process.
While at KPMG my team usually comes in behind another Big4, won’t name names because that’s how we got here, to fix what they’ve done poorly.
In audit, I think we are essentially the same, just smaller than all the others.
I liked Big D but the recruitment process was too slow.
Anything positive about KPMG??? I got two words for ya buddy...
Phil Mickelson.
Those calves 😍😍😍😍
Former KPMG employee here. I would say there was a noticeable jump in the quality of my coworkers when I went from KPMG to Accenture. The pay has also been better at Accenture (46% increase in base and higher yearly bonuses).
That being said, I think the gap between Kpmg and other firms is over blown and has become an exaggerated stereotype at this point.
Ex-D here. At BCG we lump all big 4 into one bucket and circle jerk over other MBB.
Big 4 as separate entities is never discussed. Hence you don’t see MBB commenting on this thread 😊
Thank you for this thread because I really did not understand why people were always talking crap about KPMG 😂.
I'm ex-D, but had thought about going to KPMG (ended up elsewhere due to timing). I thought I'd missed the memo!
KPMG is just the smallest and has the least mature tech consulting offerings of the big4.
Best culture IMO, I enjoyed my time there
I agree. I worked for Deloitte and KPMG, and the latter’s culture is better. I left KPMG exactly because their consulting practice at the time was small and limited compared to other companies.
Kpmg has an amazing work life balance and the best policies for women. Salaries are pretty low though but then that’s the balance, I guess
Worked at another Big 4 and love it here.
Don’t take ourselves too seriously; don’t do the chest puffing others do and don’t define ourselves by our business cards.
I’m biased because I didn’t have a great experience at the other firm and I’m paid great and treated well here. YMMV.
Everyone I’ve met from KPMG seems super nice. Don’t really get the memes behind the inherent humor of memes.
I had a KPMG recruiter reach out to me and then do an initial screening. Week later, I get an email saying they’re not hiring people with less than 4YOE in the area 🤷♂️
Generally those people are probably memeing, insecure, or nerds. I’m sure there are some goobers at J&J who snicker about Moderna being a fluke, but does anyone really care?
Interesting construct, OP.
Where do you work again?
Of course you don’t work at KPMG. I asked where you did work.
