Director is often middle management FYI. Obviously depends on the company, but I reported to directly to directors twice as an intern
It's no guarantee, but staying in your current position is likely safer. Last in, first out is still a thing.
Yea reporting to a director is usually not that senior. I have first year consultant level people on my project that have directors as their client counterparts...
Will be a C soon making 15% less than that position. For now, making 35% less. Still think this was the safer play w/ looming recession + long term will have more exit ops.

@OP: If that would only be a 15% raise from c level pay, and your supervisor would be a director (usually middle management), that doesn't sound like a very senior level position, unless you're talking about a startup with next to no funding or a broke nonprofit.
Either way, if that company is at risk in this economy, sounds look a good idea to pass and stay where you are.
Thank you all, definitely feels good to have validation. I wouldn’t say it’s a “random” tech company, but it’s small cap 6 yrs post IPO. And the position was Principal Analyst (analyst -> senior analyst -> principal -> director)
