Hi fishes,
Any guess how many people are laid off from Publicis sapient in past few days? Really scared for my future as I'm also under probation period and deeply regret for my choice of joining this firm...I don't understand why were they recruiting peeps when they were short of projects. Publicis Sapient

I’d ask your doctor rather than FB :)
The saying is “food before 1 is just for fun"
We also started at 6 months but that was as much baby led as it was our decision. She started reaching for food when she saw us eating so we figured it was time. Only once a day though and started with about a teaspoon of solids. We did around lunch every day in case she had an reactions to anything we tried, we didn't want to be close to bed time in case of emergency. After about two weeks we made it an ounce or so and would introduce a new food by adding a teaspoon of it to what she had already tried.
It's a really fun time, especially if your baby is really into solids. As long as baby is gaining weight well and meeting all milestones, there really is no reason not let them try different things, but that's my opinion. I use the big book of organic baby food for ideas. Lot of yummy combos in there but there's plenty of other resources online too.
We started with solids at 6mo, but the real signal (besides doctors approval) is being able to sit up unsupported. Besides that purees just once a day for the first month. We’ve moved to 2x a day now at 7mo, but baby still consumes nearly 30oz of bm a day
H1 is right. The doctor will tell you if the baby is ready for solids and what to start with. That said we started at 60ml of formula and less than an ounce of rice cereal mixed with formula which my daughter spit out for the first few weeks.
Not normal. The question is more how much milk is the LO eating in a 24 hr period? Anywhere between 24-32oz is normal and breastfed tend to eat less than formula fed. Their stomachs don’t really get nutrition from nonmilk anyway until about 1
I mean, this is a thing.. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baby-led_weaning
We did solids starting at about 4 months but I would certainly consult with your pediatrician.
We've had 4 kids. Guidance on this from the pediatrician changed for each. Fact is, they'll give you the latest and greatest recommendation, but we learned that it's still an open question. We would start somewhere about the 4-6 month mark, but ended up on if the kid likes it, let them have some. If they don't, try later. I don't think it's a rush as breast milk and formula provide plenty of nutrition - ours all took to it at different times anyway. They all seem fine so far (well, as much as they can be with me as a dad anyway!)
Now, I will say that when they started taking solids, each of ours went through a few weeks or more of constipation. Watch out for that! Had to keep things flowing with what the pediatrician recommends or everyone in the house paid the price.
I recall 6 months being about the earliest you want to start.
Beyond that, just once a day. We always did around 5:30pm but read earlier in the day was better.
Your baby should be predominantly drinking milk/formula.
The issue is that our LO consumes not more than 3 ounces of milk per feeding so the doctor recommended 3-4 servings of purée in a 24 hr period. Wanted to check if this is normal.
He is consuming 16 ounces of milk in a 24 hr period so the doctor recommended more solids.
Thank you C1
Listen to your doc or go get a second opinion from one. Don’t crowdsource medical advice
Waited till 6 months. Just once a day around lunch time in case she had any reactions. After about a month moved to twice a day, and now at 8 months we do three times a day. Really don’t give her too much at a time tho. She eats like a damn bird.
