Do industry accountants take vacations that are 2 weeks+? I rarely see my clients go on a long vacation but that’s probably due to the audit cycle so I’m curious. Even on Christmas Break some of them are already sending emails on the 26th.

I graduated with a data science degree. After about 5 months of applying for Data Scientist and SDE roles, I got a QA engineer offer. Although my goal is to become a Data Scientist, due to immigration constraints I am not willing to take the risk and keep searching especially in today’s market. I want to know if QA experience will be helpful to switch careers after a year or two? Will I have to start from scratch and search for entry level jobs again?

Hi! I've been trying to reach the IRS about correcting a name on a return, they won't process my tax return bc of this error. I call the number they provide 800-829-0582 ex. 372 or 772 and when I call i get a message that I need to call the number above. So it's driving me nuts bc it's a literal circle. I've tried calling the number listed on the IRS website and it's only prerecord info. I don't know what to do, any suggestions?

I accepted a role in New York City but my direct manager said I can work from home in Boston instead. My understanding is that I would be paying NY taxes, but not MA taxes. Can anyone here confirm? Also, would my employer have to incur any additional taxation because I am remote?
