I had interviewed with Deloitte UK consulting in June/July and was called by the HR team by the end of July that the interviews were positive and they're sending for approval for an offer to be rolled out. I was called back later in September and told that the role is on hold due to a hiring freeze. Is anyone else in this situation and have you'll heard back from the HR team post that

Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

Nope. I’m done. This is enough.
I never thought I’d get to a point where I was making in a month what my single mother made in a year. It’s overwhelming and crazy and if this doesn’t make me feel secure and full-filled, literally nothing will.
I’m now devoting the rest of my life to taking trips with my mom. We made it!
💯 ^^ same! I was elated at $140 (more than my entire family combined…..); at $220 + LTI, I can support every cause I care about, help my family cover gaps, travel wherever I want and treat my loved ones. Life is great!
We’ll make $400K this year in a LCOL area. We have two young kids and I don’t ever worry about money and know that we are very well off. But you definitely get used to whatever you have. And lifestyle creep is so real. We max out our 401ks and save about $2k extra per month. I guess this is what being “rich” feels like, but I don’t feel rich.
That said, I’m also not going around talking about how “hard” it is to survive on $400k or how other people “just don’t get how expensive private schools are.” I’m blessed and thankful.
I feel like because we can never guarantee a great return on investment from private school (kids are all different and who knows how they will turn out regardless), a good quality public school is the way to go. Plus, I want my kids to work for their college tuition, no free ride from us.
Absolutely. I make about $250k in NYC and feel like I live the life I want. I am mid-30s, single and live in a standard 1-bedroom apartment. I dont have very expensive taste, but I have expensive hobbies like skiing and travel. Never worry about paying bills, splashing out on a big dinner out, shopping spree (although not a label chaser), or booking a last minute plane ticket. Plenty of savings in the bank/ stock market
I would like to know what you all do to make that amount of money. For instance, what company and position are you in? I’m happy for you all and I know it’s not all about the money but I never see positions posted for these rates. I’m only interested in knowing what you do.

This whole thread is making feel inadequate, I’m in Canada though and our market isn’t as hot.
You are adequate! Salary is just a number, what really matters is if you're happy.
Wow, I can’t help but be amazed about how much higher salaries are in the US compared to EU!
I paid $10k to have a baby. Yay, America.
I make $280K. I don’t “need” more, but definitely “want” more. Between me and spouse, our yearly saving is roughly $150K including 401Ks and investment avg returns. It doesn’t matter how much I earn, but putting away $250-300K a year is something that would be a target. I think it’s possible to get there in 5-6 years. Lifestyle creeps are definitely something to be observant about.

Need? No.
Want? More is always nice, but not necessary at this level.
