They're always hiring, because people are always leaving. I wouldn't read too much into it.
A1 - do you think clients at other firms are slower to settle because they aren’t insured? Do they want to settle at all or skip negotiations?
I feel like every big 4 firm is constantly hiring
Having worked at JL and another Big Four firm currently, the turnover at JL was substantially higher than my current firm. In the two years since I left JL, literally the entire office’s associate pool turned over. Meanwhile, at my current firm, which has ~3x higher headcount, we’ve had one associate resign to change legal fields and one associate resign to go in-house. That’s it. We’ve been constantly hiring solely because we’ve been growing.
As a JL associate I can confirm that JL mistreats its employees - that’s why there is high turnover.
SoCal offices are inundated with work and need more help.
They are trying to grow the firm.
Grow really.? Paralegals aren't meeting billables. Associates don't have work consequently hogging all they can get to meet billable time. Makes no sense to grow if there's not enough work to go around. SMH. (Speaking from Chicago office only)
Toxic environment. At least in Chicago.
