I belong to Planet Fitness. As others have said, they’re really only good for cardio machines, and I like that they’re 24/7. But no squat racks, no bench press, and the few areas they have with free weights are always crowded. I’m going Blink once I start lifting .
Planet is fucking terrible. They get mad at you for lifting. Avoid planet fitness unless you're planning to live on a treadmill (in which case, go run outside for free)
Equinox or bust
What’s busy? Price point?
Planet is best bang for the buck $10 a month - no frills
Considering planet on 55th street. Have you been to this location?
I had a blink membership and worked out in the midtown and Chelsea locations. It’s a no frills basement level gym where you get a good workout with lots of equipment. I’m now at crunch and enjoy the gym a lot more, equipment is a step up, the ambiance and access to steam rooms and saunas is a plus. Blink is the best bang for the buck, but if you want to step it up crunch is a cooler gym with a better variety of equipment.
I am contemplating between crunch and blink. I saw crunch today, haven’t seen blink’a facility. You found crunch’s facility better in terms of cleanliness and lockers ?
I belong to Crunch. I like their facilities and the National plan that gives you access to any crunch on the city or country. I’ve probably have worked out in 10 different locations in the past year, all for $100/month. Also it is one of the few places that has a squat rack (read: not smith machine) at every location.
Seconded on 'Nox
It's worth it.

I have both a blink and crunch membership. Crunch is cleaner and has better equipment. I just live across the street from a blink so it’s convenient
NYSC
Blink and Crunch are both good, but honestly it varies a lot by location
Blink is my jam $15/mo for my Brooklyn location. Staff is so nice and equipment and space are always clean.
Agree with equinox. But to answer your question, anything is better than planet fitness
Depends on where you live. I have crunch but live in Brooklyn. It’s $20/month for me and I get access to 230 of their 250 nationwide locations. However, 10 of those 20 are in midtown manhattan, so for those premium locations I think it’s roughly $100/month
Crunch @ 66$/ month with Corporate discount for all nyc locations
