Post ITT if you've survived the EY layoff/PIP scare of 2017

My LinkedIn feed was absolutely filled with layoffs today. What happened? A month or two ago it was a candidate’s market and the offers were great but now everything has shifted. I was informed that I am not getting a promotion that I was gunning for, and when I pushed back about being fairly compensated for my work the response about it not being a good time to ask was really ominous. Anyone else feeling bummed?

Does anyone have any advice on how to convince yourself life is worth it when you think it’s not. I’m a 28 year guy, just got laid off from my job, have aspergers, have no friends, can’t find a gf, why do I even try anymore at anything

If you are laid off for hours, what is a neural reason for saying that your employment ended? Especially if there is a month or two break in finding employment.

Do you have any tips/advise for someone who was laid off recently and early in their career?

I have $20k in savings, I owe $6,000 to my 401k loan, that’s the only loan I got. I am debt free otherwise except for my house. Should I use my savings to pay off? Since people are talking about unemployment and being fired, I wanted to make sure I have enough, 👩🏾‍💻... What should I do? I initially took the loan to add to my home equity when I sell my house for a new house then covid hit.

When are the layoffs going to start? Anybody care to wager a bet?

Let’s talk about wrongful termination. The other day I was fired in the middle of the day without any warning. My colleagues called me because they were confused on why the Talent Manager dismissed me from the chat. I didn’t know what they were referring to. So I called my PM to ask what was happening, and she said that she just got off the phone with the TM and said they were terminating my contract on the spot due to me speaking up about micromanaging. No explanation just kicked out. Advice?

I‘ve joined Globant 3 months back. They have offered me very good CTC & the position is Senior Developer. I’m on bench till date & there are few more too. Being on the high CTC side & Higher position, I’m bit tensed about my career over here. Can someone please help me if it is a normal situation in Globant? Or I should worry & should be active again? At a different job I had a customer trying to swindle me in telling me that there was a deal in an item that never had a deal or promotion for sale so he made me scan the item 20 times before believing me. Obviously, he finally let it go but I scan it with an inventory scanner that showed me all of the sale price promotions if there were any

I work in industry but I plan to move to big4 audit. My manager worked in big4 before she works here. Since my manager already left big4 can she still give me a referral for an audit position in the big4 she worked before?

is it hard to get out of govt auditing into big4/top10? I started working in public few months ago (cpa in progress) in a small firm in dc (alot of govt clients) but wanna do commercial-cont.

Do the other Big 4 firms have busy season contracting for audit? Part time or full time? And if so what are the name of these programs?

I moved from CA to WA, do I transfer my CPA through interstate reciprocity or another method? Which state will I submit CPE to in the future?

I am wondering, how much is the first year tax manager get paid at big 4? I heard someone only get 98k in New England. I think that’s too small. What if you jump out of big 4? How about SM? Try to see what I can make in the future.
