Hi Sharks, This is probably the third time I am posting this. I hope someone will reply this time.
I am currently business analyst with total exp of 11 years. 9 years into sales last 2 years into Business Analyst. I want to move to product management. How can I start preparing for the same. What all books or certification required. I have exp in Jira, BRD, little bit of SQL. My domain is banking and finance. Please help. I want to get into companies like Adobe Atlassian Google Amazon

@H1 4-5 years, 2 from A to C (that one is actually almost guaranteed) and 2-3 from C to SC. It can be done in fewer years but lately they’ve been pushing more people to 3 years at C (at least in Tech) so don’t expect it to get any easier.

True. But if you’re really bad, they might hold you back one year. 2-4 years with 3 being the norm. I’d assume if you make it to 5th year without promo, they will politely ask you to leave or switch tracks.

Not confident, unable to drive client meetings without supervision, can’t make slides that look clean and tell a coherent story, can’t mentor junior team members - a lot is expected of SCs at Deloitte and it’s pretty comparable to manager at firms that don’t have a Consultant level.
