PwC 🐠, can you not roll over vacation days? What's this with losing holiday time by June 30? Please help me understand- how do you know if you have holiday balance? Thus isn't different from vacation

You won't "lose" vacation, you'll simply stop accruing when you hit the cap for your given accrual band (based on your length of service). Holidays are all bucketed together, including your 3 float holidays. These are front loaded at the beginning of the fiscal year; therefore, if you haven't used all of your holiday time by 6/30 the remainder will not carryover to FY18.

Sorry meant to say holiday balance must be different from vacation balance, right?

Check my metrics

Vacation balance is different from holiday - vacation will continue to accrue up to 176 hours and rolls over indefinitely. The most accurate place to view your Vacation hours is your pay statements as myMetrics lags

Holiday balance is replenished at the beginning of the Fiscal year (July 1) - if you do not use all your holiday hours by June 30, they are lost. You can check holiday balance on your My Total Rewards and Benefit Summary under Current Year summary

If you get to the 176 hrs of vacation, do you get paid for the lost vacation time because it is maxed out?

So the lesson is, take some damn time off! The cap = 22 days

P3 is right, once you hit it 176, you no longer accrue.

A lot of people will take around 16 hours of vacation each month to keep their balance right around 176. If you quit or are fired, the balance is paid out

Always end the year with a 0 balance for holiday. It is leave that counts for utilization. So use it!

Neither holiday nor vacation gives you billable credit

Taking holiday is a reduction to your denominator, vacation does not reduce your denominator. Therefore, taking holiday helps but vacation does not

Neither reduces your denominator. It's 2000 for everyone.

Only that matters is if your code is billable credit or not so you're increasing your nominator

Nominator?

P3, reach out to your HR staff. Each month has a set number of working hours for the denominator, when you take holiday this number is reduced - run a GFS utilization report, you'll see

Numerator, sorry

Burnout is because you did something consistently for an extended period. You can do quick fixes like go on vacation, get some sleep, exercise more. But they may only help temporarily, depending on your level of Burnout.

Try adjusting your approach to work / life to a more sustainable, and ideally, enjoyable balance.
