It helps as long as the practice lead you're interviewing with doesn't dislike the family friend. Run it by the family friend first

D3, consulting is a networking profession. Knowing people in the firm you're applying to shows that you can network.

Yeah that's how my friend got in

Yea same goes for KPMG with a partner in Tax. My parents know them really well and so I know them pretty well

Piggybacking off that, what should I expect from an experienced hire interview from another big 4 consulting firm?

As long as the friend is in good standing and respected, it's the best way to get into PwC.

Wow. How about getting in because you show promise? Oh nevermind

Sure... Well, hopefully you can handle the work. Hate working with people who brag about who they know but sucks at their job

I have been giving a few interviews lately and every Company is asking me to confirm if i can get my NP reduced from 90 Days to 45 or 60 Days. I'm still under probation but assigned to a Project already. Should I ask my Account Manager and HR about it or its unethical to do so. Am i making a mistake to ask and confirm about NP even before my offer letter or its ok to just enquire what's the process and possibility to reduce NP as we have buyout option too.

Is this a dead lock? firms exp matters much more than a CPA license?

I have been looking at the curriculums for Harvard Business School's Master of Business Administration and Harvard Extension School's Master's in Management. They both have the same requirements, generally speaking, including a field immersion course that serves as a capstone in the Master's in Management, which is fairly new. If I am not able to gain admission to Harvard Business School, but wanted a similar educational experience to become a consultant, should I attend Harvard Extension?

is it worth it to shift to IB or MBB after 7 years in the big four(audit and fdd)? I do think IB and MBB are interesting fields that you can acquire unique skill sets and a good network. But I don’t think I couldn’t keep up already for a daily grind. The reason why I did not pursue it earlier in my career is that I am not from a target school and I do not have an MBA. lol thoughts?

Been getting some interesting ads in Georgia. Got a letter about how Jon Ossoff is going to destroy Georgia’s economy and attacking him and his character. This was generated by David Perdue.

Ossoffs response? Bring up all the ridiculousness Perdue has done and how he’s left Georgia in a worse position. Didn’t say Ossoffs name once, just said get rid of Perdue.

Thought - In the Georgia runoff elections, the best use of Democrat money would be to run ads which seem to have a conservative bent and play up the election fraud conspiracies, claiming the election system is broken and can’t be trusted. Maybe even offer up a way to grieve their frustrations with the system (that isn’t voting obviously). Would be so effing perfect if Rs lost the senate because trump cast doubt on election integrity.

I've found ChatGPT mildly interesting... until a manager shared an experiment he did last week. He asked a few bench analysts to spend an hour researching basic questions a client might ask (e.g. "which Fortune 500 companies have the most questionable ESG strategies and why?") and to answer via 2-3 short paragraphs. He posed the same questions to ChatGPT. He shuffled all the responses and asked a number of us to spot the AI answer. NOBODY picked correctly.
