Question for anyone who has done interviews: if someone has worked back office for just a few months and is interviewing for an FO job how do they best explain the early move?

Let's be honest here: for people who are eager to move to FO from BO in a few months, it's usually because they couldn't get a FO office out of school and took this path to wait for the opportunity

What the fuck is a “cool guy” occupation? Sounds very um, uncool to phrase it that way

Dude/dudette, if you go to non-FO post bschool, that's not good.

This is a layup. Talk about having had enough time to get a sense for back office work. You’ve learned a ton but think front office work is a better fit for your skill set and career goals

So Barclay. If the answer was that I've seen What I they do and want to be work in a role that better utilizes my previous financial experience and let's me contribute directly to the business would a typical hiring manager Regard that as a good reason?

OP, what's your background? Assuming you are asking for yourself but your title shows you are "investment banking associate"

Old Title I haven't been able to change for some reason. Basically I had a family issue that forced me to move up to NYC so I wasn't in a position to hold out for an FO lateral offer.

Was working IB last fall and did credit during B school. Background before that... Don't want to out myself but it's a non financial "cool guy" occupation that isn't unusual to find in finance.

I have a friend who was let go a few months into his first job after college (reason: the manager felt like he wasn't grasping the training content to the level that was expected). He's worried about if he should put the experience on his resume anyway, if he does will recruiters ask why he had such a short time at this place, and what will recruiters think if he explains he was let go. What are some things recruiters expect from candidates in this situation to continue considering them?

Hello anyone reading this! I wanted to ask for any realistic, recommended job positions from someone with more knowledge and experience. I am graduating this December with my BBA and am ready to leave the job I’m in now. I’ve been applying for a range of positions I qualify for and nothing so far, which I expected. I have 3 years of experience in management operations but also have 6 years of experience with child care, is that why I may be getting rejected? Maybe I’m overthinking my resume? 😅

Hey everyone - I could do with some advice. Not sure what I am doing wrong, but I am having a hard time getting interview calls. I am trying to pivot from consulting to the industry and targeting project/program management roles. I have been doing this work for 7+ years now (total YOE 12 years) so certainly have the right skillset. I have tried a couple of referrals too but that didn’t help either. Any advice you guys could provide would be helpful. Thanks!

Are cover letters important if they don’t ask for one? There are so many job postings and applicants I can’t tell if they would be beneficial to show effort or just a waste of time to write with how little time I assume people are looking at applications with the mass hiring going on. If I should be writing one, any advice how to format?

I'm italian, 26 yo and currently working in France as financial analyst.
Work environment is great, friendly and multicultural but I don't like the job at all.
Personal life is not so nice since I manage to see my family and gf every 30/45 days only. Colleagues have their own lives and at the end we don't hang out much.
My dilemma is:
A) going back to Italy at a lower salary with less growth opps but better personal life or
B) Switching my job here and hold on

What would you do?

Thx! :)
