it’s free. there’s no charge if you don’t have insurance. but you may have to wait in line for several hours
Don’t say you need it for traveling. They’ll charge you $300 for a travel test. If you say testing due to possible exposure then it’s free. This has been my experience as well as my friends in the city even with insurance they charge you if you want it for travel.

Test should still be free, even if you don’t have insurance. Do a little research on this, I think there is a list of pharmacies that are participating
Pretty sure it’s free everywhere here in NYC. Citymd lines can be pretty terrible. I go to the ER near me, no charge, and I get results within a day
Where at?
Free! Got antibody and regular test at citymd in april
I've seen most state $125-150
If you say you have symptoms or been in contact - it’s free. If it’s to get out of the mandatory quarantine it’s not.
This is what Aetna told me. On their website it says “doctor recommendation required” and I called about it.
Is CityMD my best option? Or are there other options for the paid ones?
This^ and you can get PCR with quicker turn around
Regular tests are free (results within 72 hour). Rapid tests are the ones you have to pay (results in 15mins). I’ve heard the rapid tests might not be as accurate though.

I’ve had reliably quick turnaround times with nyc health and hospitals (less than 48 hours) — even over thanksgiving — lines may vary based on location but in Williamsburg the longest I had to wait was an hour

The clinic near me said PCR was free with insurance and rapid wasn’t covered at all and would be 85
NYC public hospitals do it for free, no insurance needed
