Received an offer from Deloitte as a TC2 in Business Tax Services. I'm coming from a small firm of 70 people and already accepted an offer at an even smaller company of 30 people before deloitte even reached out to me. But I still took the interview just because. Now I'm torn. I'm getting the same base pay but deloitte is giving 10k sign on bonus. Regardless. The pay isn't really much of an issue. I was going to the smaller company for the flexibility and less stress. But it's still (Cont.)

Deloitte looks better on resume and more service lines to transfer to if interested. I would opt for Deloitte. Plus benefits are probably ly better Healthcare wise since they are so big.

like

^ This! Plus Deloitte has extended disconnect times around a lot of the major holidays. When I was at a small firm it was always annoying to have to save PTO for thanksgiving and christmas

like

Deloitte will look better on a resume and may have the “small firm feel” if it’s a smaller offer or practice but I’m sure it is still big 4. Meaning no matter how small the office is you will still be part of a national practice with I would assume some kind of mandatory busy season and it is extremely unlikely that you can just say no to the work without being labeled a low performer. Even if your office is small or do not have local projects a office on the other side of the country may pick up your time if your showing free. Not to scare you but just be realistic going into it.

I really appreciate the transparency!

Take Deloitte how much is the salary ?

72.5 in LCOL is really good imo

Public accounting. Just smaller. So, I'm torn between what I actually want. The tax managing partner was a good salesman and really sold me on the flexibility and being understanding that I'm a new mom and wanting to align motherhood and public accounting hours. He's like, this is your boss saying this lol this deloitte location is also pretty small. So they preached that small firm feel with big firm resources. Idk. I feel like I know what to do but just need input. I also hate the idea of retracting my current offer at the really small firm.

Make them go head to head to negotiate higher. Leaving KPMG as a senior I had an offer from a boutique firm (promised fast acceleration) and another Big4 headhunter coincidentally called me around the same time. Stayed in Big4 and would recommend the same to you at senior level.

Deloitte is going to be great on your resume. It'll be easier to say "no" to work because there is always someone else to take on the work, like if you decide to have a second child. The small firm likely is not going to be as flexible, no matter how much they want to be, during deadlines and high stress times of year..

Go Deloitte. Confident you’ll have a great experience and can move on to better things whenever you reach that point

Does anyone have a similar experience? I interviewed with recruiters from two of "Big 4". Both interviews went well, and I was told the recruiters will submit my resume to the partners and senior managers for the next interviews. 3 weeks later, I received the rejection letters without the next interview. I wonder why the partners even not bothered to interview me. If it matters, I am a CPA with 3 years non-PA experience and applied for experienced associate positions. I appreciate any insights.
