As a person in CA who used to work remotely with an east coast team, your hours are the teams hours.
Nothing beats that 5:30am call with a client

Learn the company/team culture first. I came from consulting where any concerns about work/life balance were purely performative, and you were supposed to understand that it was all lies. Now, I don't accept meetings after 6pm my time, regardless of where I am in the US, and it is perfectly fine. It's been very refreshing to be treated like a human again.
Did you discuss that at all when taking the job? I’d imagine they expect you to be working west coast hours.
From my experience you end up working both time zones if your client is also East Coast based. The upside is you’ll have more free time before noon EST.

Set expectations for business hours up front. As others have said, depending on the culture, you can probably work normal hours or sightly modified (1 hour later).

Did you set the boundaries before accepting the job?
It depends on the company, but I imagine you should plan to work until 8/9pm every night at least until they prove otherwise.
Hours is something that should have been discussed before accepting the offer to make sure you and the company are both aligned. I’m East Coast as well and working on a West Coast team. I set my hours upfront either starting at 10-11am and finishing my day around 7-8pm depending on what’s going on. The expectation is they respect my hours but if there is a client meeting or something important happening after my set hours then I need to make myself available. But overall we have an understanding and they try not to schedule late meetings if possible. On the other hand if I know that there are going to be late meetings that I need to attend I just start my day later so I don’t end up working a 10+ hr day.
