Thoughts on a Omega De Ville Prestige as a first luxury watch? Would be ~$7.5K USD at retail. Some friends have said great things about Omega as a starter, whereas others say it’s not worth it over a Rolex Oyster Perpetual (which would be similar in cost).
I personally love how clean the design is, the use of gold, and the thinner band as it links the watch … find the Rolex band design to be too chunky.

Was previously at CLA, switched and got a 35% increase (which got me to market at the time). CLA knew I was under market, but said there was nothing they could do. Also, I got a 35% increase in a pre-Covid world, which I thought was large for back then.
I had the same thoughts as other poster about the culture, CLA pushes their “CLA Family” culture and how it is unmatched. Well just so you know been out of CLA for about 4 years now and I feel like it is not much different. People in my office still genuinely care about you as well as getting the work done.
Either way congratulations on getting what you have worked to earn and good luck on your journey!
Former Moss here- I think Moss does a good job with benefits- when I moved firms, I actually pushed for a comp adjustment based on less benefits. But I found Moss overly concerned about metrics like chargeable hours, and was concerned about the extremely aggressive budgets and “race to the bottom” on the fees for the sales they were making. It felt like I was implicitly encouraged to always be taking on more, more, more but eat a ton of hours to keep my engagements efficient. I learned a ton and had mentors who really cared about me, but at the end of the day, I just couldn’t get past their hours/scheduling policies. That of course would be a bigger issue in audit than tax. Best of luck in your new role!
I’m not mad about the salary at all but, at least in my office, we are much worse off on all of those items that you mentioned other than the demand level. Can’t comment if it’s more/less
I joined as manager so that could explain the phone bit
Do you mind sharing your current level, new salary, and COL? And how does the culture match up? I’ve had a great experience at CLA so far, and I’m worried I might get caught in a toxic environment when I switch to a new place
Cool thanks for the detail! I’m going to guess it’s a LCOL since there isn’t a major city where big 4 is. And I feel you on CLA’s cheapness. I heard they’re going to finally match the market this promotion cycle in November. We’ll see I guess.
