I did, but I'll admit that I had the privilege of a dual income household. But I also had six figures of student loan debt. I wasn't making market, but I went from 145k to 75k after my first year of practice. It was 100% worth it. I learned so much more about the law AND myself in my public interest role. I wasn't depressed at the thought of going to work everyday. I'd also only been out of law school a year, so it wasn't that hard to change my standard of living, especially since I was doing less depressed shopping to fill the void. If you ultimately want to go into PI anyway and you're miserable, my advice would be to rip off the band aid if you can make it work. Otherwise, lifestyle creep will make it harder as the years go by.

Those who have evaluated switches from Consulting to Startups - any advice? Was offered a Bus Ops Assc. role at a Series A FinTech which is where I desire to take my career. Main item I am having trouble disaggregating is, by taking this role am I potentially taking a step back (likely promo Manager next year)? In one sense, I feel I could develop more in the startup role though moving to a IC role / 50k less salary if promo’d (w/ equity to be fair) doesn’t feel awesome. Lmk thoughts! Thanks.

22, healthy, single, M. Should I really max my HSA? I completely understand the triple tax savings but my thought process is I don’t think I’ll have a large med expense for a while. I know, I know, I know anything could happen but the likelihood is pretty low rn and I don’t want to lock this money up for solely health costs when I rather be saving for a house down payment or continued education. I still plan to contribute to it, but should I really max it out at my age??
