Currently pregnant with baby 2 and a start-up which I was really keen on about 9 months ago came back around to offer me a position. I am about 4.5 months away from leave with my current firm. Am terribly nervous about accepting an getting more even half of the leave I could have gotten before. To top it all off they are offering 50% salary until they raise their target (about 30% to their goal right now). This position is in my dream field and a great fit for me, but the timing couldn’t be wors
Hiya! Trying to get a decent understanding of what paybands are like for my experience and role at other firms or in industry . For anyone that is roughly 2yoe in Toronto working in cyber please share your salaries! Thanks in advance! I’ll start, I make 81k.
Is it worth it to hold out until manager in FDD? Or exit now as a senior into a senior m&a role
I feel like I wasted a morning. I’m pregnant, can’t focus on work, can’t take my adhd meds, in a new position with no support, and I’m nauseated all the time. I don’t know how to prioritize my work like I have in the past. Has anyone else been in this situation? Any tips?
Is it worth it to go back to school for a better track to a FAANG company? The division I’m currently in seems like there are no good opportunities, and I have the funds available to finish my undergraduate full time (Canada). I applied to Amazon before for a highly senior position and made it to final interview so I think I would have a better chance for a new grad type role.
Been working in PA for 2 years. No prior internships or business related work. Is it okay that my resume is just my associate role with like 15 bullet points? Not sure how to fill in the blank space, and it feels super lame to bring in non-relevant college jobs. Can I include ways I'm involved at the firm like mentorship and diversity initiatives?
If you ran into someone tomorrow at lunch and they offered you an unpaid full time 4 month internship. Is there any person or position that could make you want to take it?
Secured 750 (Q:49, V:42) in GMAT. Targeting to apply for EMBA in 1-2 years. 9 YOE. Current role: Senior Manager. Target universities: M7, INSEAD and LBS. Question is, for GMAT exam I just focused on Q & V part, and skipped IR & AWA part (IR: 1 & AWA: 3). Now does it make sense to reattempt with a focus on other parts and risk 750 scores, or you think it’s not needed, as for EMBA’s GMAT score is not the only deciding factor and 750 score is enough for most universities irrespective of IR & AWA.
I’m a Junior accountant, recent MBA grad in Finance, located in NYC, just got laid off due to a merger. Anybody hiring or know any opening positions?
just received an offer to exit to a venture fu nd on the other side of the country for slightly less pay - do I take it?
What are the ultimate consulting exit apps (I.e? specific role/team & industry) for the non-technical consultants? Looking to understand the exit opps available that: 1. Pay in line with MBB or exceeds (YOY raise is also in line with career and pay progression at MBB) 2. Have reasonable hours, at most 9-7 so I can pick up some hobbies and have a personal life 3. Have great global brand/prestige that will make me as desirable exiting consulting now vs exiting that company in the future
What are your thoughts on RSM consulting? Specifically on compensation, WLB, exit opps, and types of work.
Exploring a potential data analytics role at MBB that isn’t part of their general consulting track… it seems more like an internal service that partners with consulting teams and occasionally is client facing. I’m interested in pursuing an MBA in the near-ish future and I’m curious how much this would help my application versus staying in my current role as a B4 consultant?
I have only had male mentors and I really wish I had a female role model to look up to in this field. Any advice for how to network and find a good female mentor? Im up for promotion to manager this year and I want to leave the firm after. I don’t know where to start and I lack the confidence and network needed to change careers. Any useful advice? Thank you!!
Considering an expert role in healthcare in mid Atlantic region at McKinsey. Any thoughts about culture, wlb, tc, etc? Have read through a bunch of older threads. Opinion seems mixed. Negatives mentioned include more intense work hours than integrative track, second class citizen, slower career progression, lower pay than integrative, harder to get staffed on engagements, poor integration into teams, and subpar exit opportunities. Also read this is changing. Would appreciate recent thoughts. 🙏
What are the potential benefits of working at a deals oriented firm (e.g., LEK, S& Deals, EY-P) as compared to the more traditional Big 4 MC type roles at the post-M level? Really struggling with putting in the hours for the deals centric role as I’m not 100% sure of the longer term payoff (besides short term slight bump in comp).
Just had a look at some start-ups that are hiring and a lot of them offer unlimited vacation days... think this is a good practice?
Applied for an in-house position last week. I think I am a good fit. Haven’t heard from the big tech company. I briefly worked for the director of that group a few years back at a different law firm and we are connected on LinkedIn. Should I reach out to her? What should I say?
Hello Fishes, Is anyone aware about what would be the average hike percentage this year for the falks getting promotion from associate to senior associate? YOE is 9 and currently having 6.5L fixed. Talking about EY GDS not EY India.
Went through a bad burnout a few months ago and ended up taking some time off during the Christmas holidays to recover. Now that I am back, I feel disengaged and can’t help but constantly feel like I don’t belong here. Anyone else go through a similar experience?
Hi all - I am trying to find 3rd party verification partners who support Covid test checks. Anyone have any information or companies/software that does that?
If your team is working from home, do you check their Skype and ping them every now and then to make sure they are not leaving their desk? I don’t like it when people are not immediately available.
Poll: IPad Pro 11” vs IPad Pro12.9” Why: Because I have Best Buy points I need to use in 2 days. How many: $500 equivalent. Use: Just traveling, reading, etc. have a MacBook Pro, so definitely nota supplement to a laptop. Commenters: “you can buy something other than iPad”. Yes, I can but I have most electronic gadgets I need and I rent, so no big appliances. But open to suggestions if there’s something very out of the ordinary from Best Buy. Thank you in advance :)
I need more EQMs before the year's out and currently on the bench. $75 round trip flights to Vegas... 🤔
EA Compensation Can we start a thread to evaluate what the market looks like for comparison? I’ll start: Company type: Big 10 Region: Midwest Support for: 3 partners, 1 MD and 2 National service line leaders Comp: $67K Curious if my salary is in line with industry.
Anyone know Hilton corp. codes?
What's the best laptop for remote access? I need to buy a new one to boost work from home
For those who survived layoffs and crises before, what things and actions made a difference? How'd you come out stronger? Did you pivot into something new entirely?
Anyone else think Points Guy is hot 😍
I was gifted with 4 new desktop computers for my classroom! I teach 3rd and 4th grade learning support! Any suggestions for free and/or inexpensive academic websites?
How likely is it that I'll get OT this busy season as an intern at Deloitte? My last team made interns go home at 5pm. So, No OT for them.
Dumb question but I recently cancelled a $1500 United flight and now I have rebooking credit. If I buy a $500 flight will United just refund my credit card that last $1000 after or do I keep on tapping into that until it’s depleted, so buying 3x $500 flights?
Has anyone has experience with a firm's outplacement services? At MBB maybe? Worth it or not? Thanks!
