Is the CVA exam worth pursuing?
I received an email from the HR at Monitor Deloitte that I've cleared the case round and a back to back discussion with partner and director of the team will be scheduled. Been almost 3 days since this email, haven't received asking for availability from the scheduling team. This for a role with their Lifesciences Strategy practice in the UK. How long do they typically take to schedule the final round of discussions? Do they eliminate candidates in this round?

I posted this in one of the other threads. We are actually experiencing growth in MC. We are +20% on prior year and exceeding our target this year. People make a lot of baseless comments about KPMG, but let me tell you... It feels good in the shade 🌴
Deloitte' headcount adjustment rationale is very simple... Sales are significantly above last year but not as high as expected plus turnover is half of typical/expected. A perfect storm.... And normal course of business
@bcg1 market is moving towards firms who can provide end to end from strategy to execution, and is moving deeper into areas that require deep subject matter expertise. Bain doesn't have the scale to have true SME (in fact, they have people be generalists much longer than others) nor the scale to do execute. There's a reasons McK has started McK implentation, and a majority of recruits from bschool are going directly into ops, bto, etc instead of generalist (and believe me, they didn't want to, they loved being the "strategy for top CEO" guys). Some other reasons too, in regards their ability to create and sell tech platforms, and the ability to pay out long term liabilities of retirees.
*hearing about the rationale (typo)
That said, I wouldn't worry too much if I was a Bain employee...Bcg, atk, and mck (although mckinsey is basically there already) are all attempting to scale up too...so would instantly hire you.
@bcg I think Bcg is big enough to survive. That said? I think Bain and Bcg should merge, but that's unlikely to every happen. I can see McKinsey getting a price premium to Bcg tho (not sure if that's currently the case).

Looks like this Bain discussion will move to its own thread recently posted for broader input

@D2... Or Bain?
.
I too would like to know bain
Majority of mckinsey's MBA recruits are going directly into ops, bto, etc*
I actually expect them to have massive issues soon, since PE DD has been keeping them a float, and that slowed down Q1.
@d2, thanks for that perspective, very helpful. I agree with BCG2 that we're expanding our offering but it still feels like we've been very successful in recent years without going to quite the level of the McK model (e.g. we're still a generalist model for the first few years, doesn't seem like we're moving to substantial implementation)
But yes agree BCG would definitely hire Bainees if things went south for them, we're still hiring quite strongly
For example, let's say I'm delta and I want to have a big airline pricing project. Bain can give you strategy...McKinsey can give you strategy, a tech system to monitor it, and implement the pricing project....oh and they have deeper subject matter expertise both from industry and service line perspective due to moving away from generalist and scale. Bain is in trouble.
d2 what are your thoughts on BCG as a firm that's seemingly in between Bain and McK on the spectrum?
Following. Interesting commentary d2✋🏼
