1. Instability in business volume. As soon as customers learn they can save a buck or 2 elsewhere, they jump. There's no loyalty or care for quality of service.
Railways unwilling to offer rates for IMCs to compete with highway.

2. New technology isn't an investment my company is willing to make. It could be because new technology typically means less need for staff and dependency on the unknown. Privacy issues are a huge deal as well.

I'm not sure AI is going to help the industry's bad reputation. AI is being demonized by a lot of consumers because it's cutting jobs.

I think leaning into AI will be necessary for companies to compete. It will take away tactical jobs yes, but this frees up employees to do the actual thoughtful work too.

There's too many moving parts in supply chain. Technology has a place in supply chain, but to what extent differs from company to company. It also only holds so much value. I'd say time will tell.....

Are alternative investments a good area to get started in? I’m making a career change from insurance and like asset management, possibly at Northern Trust. They have openings for alternative investment analyst and I wasn’t sure if that is a recommended area to start in or would that not allow for growth? I just don’t want to get stuck in a specialty and not be able to move up because of it. Any advice?

Need some advice: I currently do corp dev and FP&A for a smaller company and just got an offer for about double my salary at a F200 company. The catch is I would no longer be doing corp dev, just FP&A. My goal is eventually to crack into ib, do you think I should take the job and the pay bump or stay at my current role and try to lateral in to ib.

How many firms is too many? I’ve practiced 13 years. Since I was a 1st year associate, every 3 years or so I’ve been recruited for another opportunity that is hard to pass up. I’ve been at my current firm 3 years and got the call again, again about an opportunity that is hard to pass up. I don’t like having a reputation of a flight risk, but this keeps happening. Should I decline to pursue the opportunity just so I have a longer track record at my current firm? This will be my 4th if I move.

So I work as an assistant manager at a restaurant for the past 9 months. I've worked in restaurants for the past 6 years science I was 16. Now I'm 22. I went to a trade school for media and film. I got a dream opportunity to work in the field making about the same or 10% more. I told myself the only reason I'd leave this company is for this type of job. Should I take the chance at this job and leave the restaurant that is on the rise and growing?

Is it any surprise we’re seeing mass layoff in tech? Years of rich friends hiring rich friends with no work ethic has lead us here. I know way too many tech people who work maybe an hour a day followed by errands and traveling. A lot of getting in these places is who you know, apparently that doesn’t work out like it used to. The amount of people who worked for Meta, Apple, Amazon, etc for a few months / maybe a year is astounding. it’s around that time frame a boss can tell if you’re worth it

What would u do? 3 YOE HCOL city and I have 2 potential options:
1) move to a boutique healthcare strategy consulting firm in a similar role as I have now (client facing consulting role).. 120-130 base + 20% bonus
2) a product specialist role at Meta (FB). This told role product management, it’s analytics heavy. $107k base, 10% bonus, $30K stock.

At the end of the day, TC for both is similar. As far as exit opportunities I’m not sure what is better, so looking to get other people’s opinions.

It’s very discouraging to continuously receive these rejection emails. With 9 years of supply chain experience, I am not sure why I would not be able to at least get an interview for entry level roles that require no experience. Not just this one pictured but others as well. I’ve applied to maybe 60 positions since May, both mid level and “entry” and no interviews. I’ve had my resume professionally re-written twice. Not sure where the disconnect is. Anyone else going through this same thing?
