Are they actually requesting work from you at this time or just trying to catch up? You know you don’t actually have to respond and start working that late. Just wait until the morning...
“I started on them when I saw the email this morning. I’ll let you know when they’re ready.”
There’s no issue with working late if you’re not asking the same of others...
I used to feel that way but some of the people I managed told me it was giving them anxiety and that they felt pressure to do the same. So then I started reiterating in the emails that this was just me clearing my plate and I did not expect them to address the emails until morning. Problem there is that if you respond in a few emails late at night the employee walks in to an inbox with a whole bunch of emails from their boss, which is demoralizing and overwhelming first thing in the morning. I will still draft notes at night and use the features to send emails in the morning but I have learned it is better not to fill their inbox before they even have their coffee.
