Is HARMAN really recruiting for permanent remote roles? Would they ask us to come to office after sometime? I am a bachelor woman supporting my sickly parents and can't move them out of city. And my city don't have harman office. HR did mention permanent remote, still want to confirm as I've heard many cases people were called back across different product based companies. I would decline just on the fact that you are the 2am booty call now

I wouldn’t interview with them. I would inform them that I would get back if I don’t get an offer with any of my top 10 firms.

I think this is the email version of saying the quiet part out loud.
On the plus side, at least they didn't say you're a tertiary candidate!
I wouldn’t make it an ego thing. Take the interview if you get it, then take the offer if you get it and it’s better than the other offers in hand / in the immediate horizon. Whether or not you were respected during the recruiting process has little to no relationship to whether you’ll be respected as an employee, apart from what it says about the company itself.
This is very common. Plenty of people drop out of interviews so alternates make it through often.
SSG doesn’t use a typical consulting case question interview like the rest of EYP. Its more like LEK than McKinsey, in that youre given a bunch of slides and told to make sense of them all. Also give a presentation on a software topic. They’re judging you on your interest in software
It’s just scheduling stuff. Has nothing to do with SSG or your candidacy. They like you but have all slots filled. Just call and book another slot.

“Primary candidates” I would exit based on this alone. Makes you feel like a backup choice. Pass
For SSG - think about all the factors that are important in acquiring a Software company.
Wonder if it’s a mind trick
This is common during business school recruiting.
Yes, really. Most firms (not limited to just consulting) have “alternate” spots for on-campus recruiting. Happens during the offer process, too; there are firms that put you on the “offer waitlist” aka “no decision has been made yet” depending on offer acceptance rate.
