The people I’ve met from Slalom have been great but the brand recognition and exit ops still leave something to be desired. If you’re in tech I’d also consider Accenture. Out of curiosity, why is D the only B4 you’re evaluating?
Well I think the Salesforce group has a lot of growing to do, personally. It feels like a completely different rule set than the rest of the org -- very much remote boutique staff aug, lots of juniors to mentor adding extra hours and effort. That leader will figure it out eventually.
I’m not sure why people are so sour about WLB at D, it’s very dependent on you, the boundaries you set and how fast you’re looking to grow…..been here 7 years and would not change that decision….it’s a good place to work, there’s decent respect with clients, there’s some extremely intelligent people around, sure there might be some idiots that didn’t get the right opportunities or didn’t grab them but the firm is too big to fix any of that, they still keep trying……OP go with your gut and what you felt talking to folks on either side, I’d definitely say it’s a solid place to start your career!

Accenture: HERE’S WHY YOU SHOULD COME TO ACCENTURE
^ that is very true. Here is what they are:

Out of undergrad take Deloitte for growth opportunity. Move to slalom later for WLB and slower progression if you want

Started at Deloitte, came over to Slalom after 4 years for a big (very big) raise.
Pick Deloitte. You can worry about WLB once you’ve got the Deloitte brand on your resume.
Lol so true

Slalom will have better WLB and culture. Deloitte is a bigger name. Can always go to Deloitte, suffer for a couple years and go to slalom
Go to Deloitte, suffer a bit and build up cred, and at the ~2yr mark, bounce over to Slalom.
I had the opportunity for both, I chose Deloitte because of the pay, growth opportunities, brand recognition etc. WLB greatly varies by your team, Deloitte expects you to do firm initiatives on top of your client work. I’d put in the hours early in my career so you can ‘coast’ later on and exit to industry or local staffing models like Slalom.

D3 -- careful, almost nobody gets grad school paid anymore
Deloitte - go with the major leagues not the minor leagues
Deloitte
Deloitte! Great place to start off from undergrad, from networks and big names and lots of learning resources/opportunities
Deloitte fresh out of school
Ok so I’ve been on both sides (have worked in Slalom) and in Deloitte now.
First of all You need to know what you want ?
In general Deloitte pays better, it’s brand value is bigger across the country but Slalom is a known brand in the west coast as well.
WLB totally depends on the project you work on , so don’t believe in a blanket statements about that. I know people in both companies who have had to pull all nighters for a project release.
Also the “great people culture” that you get read about Slalom is a thing of the past ,Slalom doesn’t have a well defined and structured HR policy regarding compensations and promotions. With smaller closely knit teams it used to work out somehow.
However with the growing teams , new “leaders” and 10 new job titles coming in all that has changed. There is a lot of resentment, toxicity and politics that have seeped in to the teams. There is politics involved even in a very basic progression from consultant-senior consultant. This had led to very high attritions over the last year.
I used to work at D. Worst WLB I have ever experienced. They have lost control since the pandemic. The true answer is that it doesn’t matter where you work. It only matters WHAT you are working on and who you meet.
💯
What’s the difference in pay? Genuinely curious
Accenture has a great program for new grads. I don't know the name of it off hand, but I would suggest keeping it on your radar.

Stay away from Deloitte

I am in no way saying that I think they’ll keep my pay competitive. But, for the time being, I am very happy with my comp. Once that changes, I’ll bounce.
