Check out growithjo workouts on YouTube. Free and I lost a lot of weight. I get an hour in the morning.
Already restarting my meal plan
Another big part of it that I’m trying to focus on is emotional energy. How do you talk to your self? I spend a lot of energy thinking about how much work sucks, how much I suck as an employee/friend/SO/child to my parents/ pet parent, how much cleaning sucks, how much my body has changed, all the “chores” I need to do, etc. instead of giving myself grace, telling myself I got this, understanding that I’m doing the best I can, and being grateful for what I do have and what I’ve accomplished. I can’t get any more time but when I focus on improving my perspective and how I talk to myself, I have more energy to get things done
Once read a rec from a guy who studies the psychology of happiness to practice naming 2-3 things you’re grateful for each night before you go to bed. I was going through a horrible time and made this into a routine, and it honestly helped get me through it. You’d be surprised at how, reflecting back at the day, a couple small nice things do happen. Could be anything from “I learned a lot today” or “I watched a really fun tv episode” to “I’m looking forward to seeing X next week.” Give it a try
Maybe consider speaking with your PCP about getting on Wegovy or Zepbound for weight loss, if you meet the criteria and your insurance covers it. It’s not a magic bullet but it does help with metabolic issues that can cause weight gain and also not eating as much food due to the decrease in food noise/appetite.
Wegovy is helping the efforts I normally put in that don’t work actually work. It only works when you work though
Sending you some good vibes. Sometimes antidepressants can cause weight gain. If you’re open to advice, it might be helpful to chat with your doctor about it or do a free/low cost consultation with a dietitian who can assess your hormonal needs as well. Weight is 90% diet and 10% exercise.
Yeahhhhhh… well working out is something I’ve done for decades not just for aesthetics but specifically to stave off depression. Now I don’t look or feel good 🙄😅😳
If you’re looking for a free workout community, you might want to check out if there’s a November Project in your area. Free workouts that you can do at your own pace. I joined one a while back and they welcome people of all levels and there’s lots of positivity and just overall friendliness.
Maybe some of my experience is helpful—not sure!
l gained an additional 20% of my body weight in fat from a medication after being diagnosed with with a psychological disorder a few years ago.
I felt like the weight was really hindering my mental health because of how it made me feel about myself.
I was pretty adamant about wanting to switch meds and my doctor was willing to try a different drug combo that included bupropion/wellbutrin. While it was a little less uplifting than the original prescription, it was effective and it helped me reverse the weight gain (with a little yoga and simple baked vegetables added in).
When I started this message, I didn’t think I’d recommend vegetables, but tbh, I was super surprised by how cheap, easy, and good carrots, broccoli, potatoes, etc. are. So, they may be a great way to address your $$ and weight concerns. It’s just not that hard to cut a few carrots and cook them at 425 for 20 minutes with oil, salt and pepper. Add em to your current diet and replace food later if you like em. Try a different veggie til you find one that doesn’t repulse you. There are some awesome foods like spaghetti squash out there if you look.
Moral of story: talk to your doc to change meds (they should hear you out & it’s your body), add (without replacing) healthy foods to your diet, and know that there are many of us attorneys in your boat. You’re not the first and you’ve got company.
This may not be helpful for you, but I wanted to share just in case. Good luck!
Your doctor may be able to switch you to an antidepressant that doesn’t cause weight gain!
I lost a lot by intermittent fasting. Bonus you save money on food :)
Zip the lip and stop with the snacks/junk food. Intermittent fasting works wonders!
use my fitness pal to track calories and stay at a deficit + high protein intake. shop at Trader Joe’s. Weight lift 3 - 4 times a week, going everyday isn’t necessary - your diet is most important
and seeing progress after a few weeks will make you happy
Is the medicine remeron? Works wonders for sleep and depression, but weight gain is unbearable
