So I want to leave. I wanted to leave last year and got suckered into staying. Now I feel trapped bc my SM is on maternity leave and by the time she is back I’ll be rolling into busy season ...

Look for jobs and if you get a good offer just go. People will always manage without you somehow, you have to think about your own health/well-being

like

How will you get over the guilt of putting yourself last year after year? Put yourself first. Find a new job and go. They will figure it out without you.

like

Don’t let guilt get you, no one will remember you 1 week after you leave, in this business it’s part of the routine to adjust and adapt to people leaving at critical times.

like

There's never a good time to leave...before busy season, after busy season, before bonus, during someone's leave...
Leave. Look for the right exit. You s.m. didn't time her baby around your life... it is what it is. They will somehow manage

like

Just try leaving. It may be harder to get into private than you think

It’s being guilty for your own happiness vs. being guilty for a business where you’re an easily replaceable resource. Choose wisely 😊

Followed by a major client I lead and then summer season. How do I get over the guilt and leave?

And this is all your problem how exactly?

I think you should just bounce when you want to. It’s hard, and for some teams it will be hard to adjust in the beginning, but we always make it work.

I would leave, purely bc PA is a racket. I left EY for a CPA firm that pays base salary >20% above big 4. We get overtime if we work over 45 hours a week, travel bonuses up to 25% of base salary if we travel, profit sharing since there aren't a million partners to take all of the profits, and you get 3% of the client fees if you're on a client longer than 3 months. Plus, audit is optional. You can work in M&A, CFO advisory, treasury, reporting, etc. I'd never have those experiences staying at EY. Oh, and our trainings are in Vegas, not Secaucus.

Are there any good networking groups?

I found an Austin young professionals group, but it’s almost entirely realtors and loan people. Which is fine, but I’m looking for more typical networking professionals groups.

I liked the Project management institute, but I’m looking for more. Either General professional, finance, tech, or healthcare focused ones would be ideal.

Which offer should I accept? Currently staff 2 at big 4 in Tax with CPA license. I want to leave tax ASAP. Both are public companies +1B in revenue and same salary. Offer 1 - staff revenue accountant so reading contracts, speaking with the sales team and legal team, a lot of work at the end of the months to close books and reconcile transactions to make sure we are ASC 606 compliant. This track usually leads to director of revenue. Offer 2 - internal audit staff so SOX and compliance projects.
