This is mostly a surprise for tax staff which could freely book their time in retain/TalentLink and work directly with their supervisors for approval. Assurance staff have had to submit requests for years to HR scheduling staff for approval. My guess is most people commenting are in tax.

like

You need to grow up. Unless you own a company you will always have to ask for permission to take vacation. Standard operating procedure every where. Everyone on my teams need to clear vacation with their direct report. Our staff needs to clear vacation with seniors and managers, etc.

Some miserable asshole wrote that shit.

like

Yeah and like I said, we're aware that there's not much changing (besides, you know, the entire principle). Putting in a request is essentially asking for permission to update our schedules. It makes me feel like a child being constantly monitored, and it only applies to staff. It's insulting

like

Even if no clients are scheduled for you when you go to put in your vacation time?? If so, that's pretty harsh

Our office mandates requesting time off during the holiday shutdown. Yes, when the office is literally closed, we still need to request the time off. My guess is that OP needs to do the same regardless of whether anything is on his schedule.

Pwc3 I don't seek approval, I input my vacation time in advance and let my teams know about it. I shouldn't have to ask permission

I've never requested vacation I put it in and they put hours on top of it. I'm sure this won't change anything, just hope they don't somehow think they're going to prevent me from taking vacation when I please

I'm in tax

@ PwC5, I book my own stuff in TL(vacay, holiday, G&A, etc) directly. It does not need approval within TL from my RMO. It's a setting in TL that has to be given to you by your RMO or some dude in Tampa.

That's how ours was until today ^

It's a slow rollout from what I heard.

No idea what you're talking about

I'm a tax associate and I have no idea what you're talking about. Where was this announced??

I got the email below from HR this afternoon. Should clear stuff up for some people.

"Hi Team,

As you saw in the recent Deployment Enablement Team (DET) PwC Inside Article, we are moving toward more consistent and simple deployment processes. The first step in this process is the launch of the Human Resources Shared Services Center (HR SSC)’s new DET who will work as an extension of the Tax deployment teams and assume responsibility for specific activities.

What you need to know:
The DET will reach out to you directly for a.) time not captured in GFS, b.) variances between TalentLink and GFS and c.) staffing confirmations.
What you need to do: You will need to recognize and respond to these requests and action as required.
Timing: This change is currently launching over a three week period from July 10 - 24.

The DET will approve/update TalentLink changes.
What you need to do: For updates to your TalentLink schedules, Senior Associates through Directors will continue to update their schedules directly. Associates will use the booking request feature in TalentLink.

Please note: Associates will move to a TalentLink booking request model (change from TalentLink direct updates). The booking request process will look the same as the process you follow today in TalentLink. The DET will process and approve all requests received in line with business rules within 24 hours. This change will take effect in July, when you will notice your security permissions updated in TalentLink. This shift will allow for more accurate schedule updates and forecasting.

It remains as important as ever, that everyone regularly and accurately update his/her schedule in TalentLink and submits time daily. Up-to-date schedules are the only way requestors can see if you’re the right fit for a role, appropriately manage available time and balance workloads.

Finally, we have greatly simplified our list of non-chargeable TalentLink job names.
What you need to do: Be familiar with Tax’s new list of non-chargeable TalentLink job names you should now use.

We’re excited about the additional support which will better enable our deployment team to focus on strategic planning for your development and career opportunities. Your support of these changes will also enable our FY18 business priorities around utilization and revenue. If you have questions, please feel free to reach out to me. "

It works the same way as before I think. You book the time in TalentLink and it'll say requested I believe, and then within 24 hours someone from DET clicks approve. Imagine having that job? ☠️☠️

I don't disagree with you especially for tax. Our work is never consistent, timely, predictable. We depend on when audit teams are ready, clients are ready, etc. Audit teams schedule their fieldwork. Provision work comes in whenever the client or third party preparer gives it to us. It's a horrible idea and will likely fail quickly. Again, not much new here for our Assurance colleagues; just an effort to bring tax on board too, but it won't work for the above reason.

I don't think you email them. You just put time in TalentLink. They get notified automatically and time will post once approved. However, you can make 100 requests and they'll get 100 notifications.

Yeah that's what I mean 100 requests

100 requests per day 😏

times how many people? Haha

^tax staff never needed approvals to put client time or vacations in previously. Only major difference.

Why are town Hall meetings so impersonal? They are all about awards / the number of people hired. I know FCB health is large, but we never hear from people who aren’t Executives. Last town hall, when discussing inclusion efforts, there were no people of color represented and one of the 4 pillars of diversity was centered around our “reputation as an organization” (that really rubbed me the wrong way). At my last agency those conversations were always led by people of color from every level.
