Got messaged by a C3 . ai recruiter. Read that wlb is bad and that the interview process is absurdly long, but the Glassdoor reviews are 4.2 and can't find actual hours worked posted by anyone. How's the culture really? I'd be aiming for DS consulting, something more functional but with DS/ML concepts as my differentiator.

What do senior associates in Chicago make?
Could anyone kindly tell me about the Investment Management and Private Equity Audit Group at Deloitte? 1. Work Life Balance (Is it worst than the ordinary Big 4 WLB?) 2. Is it an entirely different audit from commercial/retail audits (think account balances etc.) 3. Difficult to learn how to audit clients in this industry without prior experience in the industry?(been doing commercial audits for 3 years) 4. Are there relatively good exit opportunities for this audit group? Deloitte PwC EY

Don’t do it...cognizant, Genpact, capgemni are all the same type of companies and primarily staff aug.
Yes and no...
There are true consulting groups at Cognizant and it sounds like the OP is interviewing with one.
This is like comparing Accenture C&M to CDO... I wouldn’t turn down a call from Accenture Strategy because CDO executes outsourcing contracts...
Thoughts? I think Cognizant is one of the primary abusers of the H1B program and probably illegally hires people below salary level. I have discussed 1099 contracts with them before but they didn’t want to pay a reasonable rate - they offered $60/hr for 10 years hard experience, and I would pay travel.
That’s a hard no.
Not sure about abuse, but firms like cognizant defiantly take advantage of primarily indian’s willingness to relocate to US clients for outsourced role opportunities.
That isn’t how Cognizant’s consulting advisory business is structured (it’s similar to big4), but definitely is the core of other service offerings workforce.
I talked to a recruiter a few weeks ago and I believe they said the Manager level maxes out at $150 with them. Far lower than most anywhere else.
This is similar to firms like Accenture. We pretty commonly level folks up from the big4 to achieve comp expectations.
OP, I joined the BFS practice this year with mostly big4 exp. I’m happy with the change, some cultural learning curve, but impressed with the quality of leadership (most are experts in their domain areas) and direction of the company (new CEO this year).
We really value people with big firm experience. My advice is have an open mind, meet some folks on the team, and decide for yourself if you think it’s a good fit.
