Hi #Urgent
Got the Offer Letter from Citi upon accepting I also received the Background Verification (BGV) mail.
which says I need to provide the relieving letter/experience letter. But the thing is I have not received it (it will take some time). I only have resignation acceptance letter.
Can we still proceed for bgv process and tell Citi that I will provide the relieving letter later on when i get it.
(already passed my LWD: 2nd nov)

You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take…now some might be a higher success shot than others but if you built any rapport during the interview process with them, reaching out to gauge how their group is doing and if there would be an opportunity for you would not be harmful. You could also explain why you went with the opportunity with the start up, and how difficult the choice was. You can discuss any potential experience gained and then talk how working in a start up environment solidified why you want to come work for them. I’ve had companies that have turned me down for a “promotional” role call me a few months later asking if I’d take a “lateral” role with them, even after I was hired during that time into a “promotional” opportunity with another company. If you are thoughtful and authentic with reaching back to them, I don’t see a reason why not.
During the interview process, was there an internal or external recruiter used to start the process or someone they connected with during the process? Reach out to them and see if they are hiring for that role or a similar role. Also, in my experience there was a prospective employer that during the interview process was moving to make an offer, I put the brakes on the process, but a few months later reached out to the internal recruiter to see if the role was still available. Ironically, the internal recruiter said the company was not hiring at the moment, but I felt I made a connection with one of the interviewers with more decision making ability so emailed them next. That individual said we do a similar opening like the one we were thinking for you a few months back. So restarted the process…In OP scenario, if they are considering the road not taken when choosing between the start-up and consulting firm, they will only what might exist with the consulting firm if they reach out. They might have success or they might get ghosted or told the opportunity is not available. I’ve also been on the receiving end of rejection when trying to backtrack on a career change. I left one employee for another role, realized it wasn’t a fit after a year or so, tried to boomerang. Called my old boss, who said we’d love to have you back and there is an opening on my team, but my bosses boss said no, we wanted to keep you and you left that wanted to fill that spot with an internal candidly that stuck with the company. I tried to reconnect with my bosses boss to have a discussion and they ghosted me. With that situation, I moved on and found another opportunity.

Hopefully you let them down easy and made a few connections before leaving that table. As long as you have a compelling tail, give it a shot
