Started at PwC in fall of 2016, moved to D for a raise (80->125) Watching my PwC classmates who are all Sr Associates, some on cusp of Manager. Can’t help but feel left behind as a C at Deloitte. I know I’m doing fine but man still feels like maybe I was too hasty to jump 😪

Comparison is the thief of joy. Plus D > PwC, IMO.

Titles are nice but I rather the compensation.

Actually low title with high comp is even better than high titles

I see D8, we’ve got ‘em in the 140’s and upwards... I guess cause we’ve been trying to stay flat for so long. But all that’s about to change from what I hear... titles and all.

likefunny

Er...title is probably the last thing you should worry about in life (especially now in Pandemic, and you’re so early in your career...). I finished college in Fall 2012 and started working in Spring 2014, and I’m still a consultant 🙄 (actually this is quite common) vs some of my classmates having senior manager /director titles (though in other industries) - but I’m not going to feel sad for this

like

Imagine how Trump is going to feel when he finds out you’re also a President (of xx society / student association) and with longer tenure... #Sad

Comparison is the thief of joy. Let’s look at my progression, I took the long way to consulting and at 10 years out of school, am only a Senior Consultant. Not to mention, I make less money than you do, $115 base comp, my level doesn’t qualify for any bonus, and I only get 12 days of PTO.....when you compare against me, you’re doing well.

What I am saying is that you are 4 years into your career with likely 35-40 more to go. It will happen, but stop comparing and just focus on improving you.

Also keep in mind Deloitte has an extra level to manager than most firms, so Deloitte SC=M at most other places. You’re almost a manager by their standards!

You either are a manager or you aren’t

This is the real question. You should be at SC on the cusp of M (1-2 yrs C, 2 years SC for experienced hire at Deloitte). What happened?

I’m also a year behind my colleagues I started with at KPMG, moved country and to Deloitte. Everyone in my KPMG cohort made Manager last year I’m only getting SC this year (equivalent to KPMG manager) but the pay rise and country change is worth being one year behind now.

I’m in the same boat — started working in consulting after graduation in 2016, joined Deloitte 1 year ago, and I’m still a consultant with a 2022 target promotion date 🙄

I feel you. ✊🏽

Hi Everyone,
I need your views and suggestions. I have two doubts:
1. Is it fair to leave an organisation (big brand) after a year as the environment is real toxic and there’s no career growth as well in terms of good work.
2. If I have to make a switch do I really have to target big brands only or can try for medium and small size companies too.

Incoming junior-level consultant wants to know what is “billable hour”.
Once in a while I see discussions around billable hours, but I don’t know how that works. After googling, it appears to me that billable hour only matters to me if my salary is paid by hours. Since I will receive a fixed annual salary, does this mean that I don’t need to worry about the concept of billable hours?
A related questions: generally speaking, is the bonus related to the hours that I worked?
Thanks!
