It’s just part of the process! Don’t stop using it, your skin will adjust. Start with just 3 nights a week. I like cerave night lotion, and then sometimes will layer aquaphor on top of the really dry and irritated parts (it won’t clog your pores). You can also try putting moisturizer on first as a buffer before the tret. And only put it on when you’re akin is completely dry!
My esthetician recommended I mix the tretenoin with a small amount of moisturizer to help with the dryness. That has helped me quite a bit. It will take some time getting used to it but it will be worth it.
Try using an occlusive like Vaseline around your mouth before applying, which is usually the area that gets the most dryness. Also, the Tretinoin subreddit has a shit-ton of helpful information, before-and-after photos, etc.: https://www.reddit.com/r/tretinoin/. Good luck!
I actually use retin-A as a peel as needed during a week when I don’t have much going on. If you want to use it religiously start by putting it on top of a moisturizer. I also like Aklief little less drying than the retin-A. PS don’t use if pregnant I believe! I think the A isn’t good for fetus. I guess I’m genderfying skincare with something a woman cares about lol
Thanks everyone! I started using CeraVe baby ointment last night after applying tretenoin and it seems to do the trick
