High ball them and wait for their response, then negotiate from there. For me, my employer's response was a bracket, which I continued to negotiate outside of. Eventually got their highest offer of the bracket, which is fine. Current salary is much high than my last position. Lawyers respect it (and you) when you advocate for your worth. Idk your situation or what staff you'll be joining, but aim high! Really depends on the industry. Staff attorney for insurance? Start high. Staff attorney for a local non profit? This method may not be best.

I get the sense that part of the reason schools are slow to re-open is that the faculty is opposed to going back for self-serving reasons with an irrational argument to support their position. It seems like a lot of time is spent focusing on all the things that could go wrong and minimal time on how to make it work. I’m sorry summer break is over, but it’s time to get back to work like the rest of us do 365. Our kid needs an education and we need to work without worrying about it.

My husband does not have a degree but immense sales experience. He has been in sales in the food and beverage industry for about 10 years now and wants to get into tech. I am in tech and have a degree so unsure if he needs a degree to get a sales role? So many places are quick to turn away great candidates because of schooling even if their experience surely qualifies them. I love my SO but get unsure....they just went on a friends trip and came back and randomly said going on another one in two weeks. I said I wanted to spend time together so they came back next morning and said let's go away just us instead, which is awesome and I am happy BUT is it a red flag? They used to always be all about spending time together and now seems like I have to remind them to put us first in the past month. We both work hard and have kids so life is more complicated.
