Traditionally, 180 x 1800 = 324,000 / 3= 108,000. Assuming all your time is collectible. 1/3 goes to your benefits and overhead, 1/3 to partners. However in a small firm like yours doubtful your share of overhead is that high. Likely much lower which offset the collection issue if your work isn’t 100% collectible. Market and practice area can also make a difference

Nah. I’ve worked with a couple hundred associates. 80% is strong in biglaw. What kind of firm/practice do you work in?
1/3 of what you collect is a good/great result as a young associate. I viewed rookie status as i need 10k hrs to know wtf I’m doing so don’t Dick around and take 6 years to get there I tried to do it in 4

Where are you located? And do you bill by the hour or flat fee?
My rate is 250, bill about 2400 year and 200 person firm. I make 220k
Having my secretary help me with time entry, and cutting off social conversations with people I don’t like saves me a lot of time. I start work at 7:30, when things are quiet. And making a to do list with high priority items helps me ignore the emails/calls that can wait. Interruptions sink my productivity so I’m a bit ruthless about ignoring unnecessary ones. I also set up a lot of rules in Outlook to filter out useless non-billable emails.
What kind of work is it? Insurance defense?
$100-$125k is reasonable. I also agree with the 1/3 analysis above.
