I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?

I do the thing where I cancel and come back and watch what's new and cancel again. Lately I've been taking advantage of deals, like the Disney 1.99 for three months. I can't imagine things can continue like this, it's all just too expensive and annoying. Plus, I can't even remember what shows are on what service. It's just nuts. I often think I should just cancel it all and see how it goes. Sometimes it's more fun to put on one of the free ones, PlutoTV or Tubi, and just watch something weird and random, it's satisfying like old school channel surfing.
You gotta find some good friends and share logins (except Netflix now)

I finally looked through my credit card and canceled everything and it added up to $500/ month.
I miss nothing
Wow! What were your subscriptions?
I downgraded to free Spotify for that reason. I don’t know why I was paying $10 a month… I listen to podcasts that have ads built in already so whats one more every half hour if I am listening to music instead?

I mean it worked for cable TV until streamers disrupted it. In sure it’ll keep working and people will keep paying until a new form of entertainment comes along to give people their audio visual fix, and then people will migrate over to that.
I’m guessing they will move to bundling. Same issue with podcasters and Substack. Every “content creator” wants you to pay for their clever thoughts, but I don’t have the time or money. I congratulate them for their entrepreneurship, but it’s just too much.
I don’t know where it will land but I have the same question. At what point is brand consolidation and acquisition inevitable with this business model?
I've come across this with other apps. I always assumed it was because they wanted to make up the difference.
I don’t even pay attention I need to start. I do know I pay way too much to not watch commercials.
Increase prices, add ad tiers smh.
I still think its cool you can get hbo and max for 10 per month though.
That's why I don't subscribe to anything and only watch what's available freely online.
