Hi Fishes
I would like to know about the client interviews (especially in data science or machine learning roles).
Are these interviews tough?
Are these interviews meant to assess technical knowledge? For example, what is binomial distribution, what are different data structures in python, ml algorithms etc.
I would request each of the nagarrians to share their thoughts irrespective of the technologies you are working.
I am thankful to you for taking time and helping me out.

This was a few years back, but of the 25 people I was going through recruiting with in college for tax, 7 went EY, 11 went PwC, 6 went KPMG, and only 1 went Deloitte. And I think it was a culture thing and the size of the practice in my location. And to add further, the Deloitte person left after 1 year to do real estate lol.
It really depends on the office. I went from pwc to Deloitte and am so much happier now. I agree that the technology is much worse. But my team culture is light years better. The ppmds actually care about people’s well being. I’m on a much smaller team now so maybe that helps.
Agreed. Great advice. All big 4 are more less the same. Your group and your area is the differentiation
Going from PwC tax to Deloitte tax is a major downgrade. I did it and I regretted it ever since.
I’m in NJ so not an option :( thanks tho
I made the opposite switch. Much happier after the switch but agree that it all depends on the groups
I was in a similar boat as a DA. Recently made a switch and am really happy so far! Definitely recommend going somewhere you know you’ll have technology (tax or otherwise) opportunities full-time.
Where did you make the switch to?
Could be wrong but Deloitte tax pays wayyyy less
You are 100% right KPMG 1.
OP, are you a DA? If you have a tech skill with federal compliance experience, you should look into tax analyst role in industry. More and more industry tax is moving toward tech, so you may have a good chance. Btw, I just accepted an offer from industry (high tech company) with 40% raise. They said they chose me because of my tech skill (although I might have less experience than other candidates). Thanks PwC! All the best.
Not at all. Happy to help if I can.
What tax tech group are you in? TRS?
I’ll have to look thanks for the advice
