Thought on Alixpartners? How is the culture, compensation, benefits...compared to Big4?

Interested too, just out of curiosity

Who?

AlixPartners - a boutique consulting firm focused on turnaround and restructuring consulting

If you like ops it's a good firm - reverse pyramid structure is interesting but it's a chop shop. Constantly "delivering value" via mass layoffs, facility closures, etc. Once you have the blueprint down it's plug and play.

K1 how do you know?

My buddy works there seems to enjoy it. From what I understand agree with k1. That ass gets paid though (he's former big 4)

Hows the hours?

Can be rough, they work with a lot of distressed companies and private equity clients so M-F travel happens but other corporate clients with more traditional ops issues can be more manageable

He hasn't had m-f but the hours have been mixed from good to 60+ busy, but not often. He seems to like it a lot from what I've gathered

Does it make sense to make a lateral move from a Big 4 Advisory position as a Manager to a small (less than 100 person) boutique management consulting firm? Compensation and title are both the same but WLB will be much better at smaller firm (talked with current and former employees) and opportunities to advance in the company could be great as they are looking to grow rapidly. Base compensation overall is $170K in a T3 city. Recruiter wants to set up an interview.
