I recently interviewed for L7 EM at Google and had 4 great interviews and one not so great system design. I submitted external referrals all of which gave great feedback. The recruiter said the next step is team match/interviews and then the HC. Anyone in a similar situation? What was the result? Google

Don't they mainly exist to sell you clubs?
Probably but my new ping G425s look so good
I had a good experience with them but, I imagine it’s very hit or miss
I would recommend getting coached at a driving range/golf course. It helps to play a few holes with your coach, if possible. World of difference compared to a simulator. In golf, course management is key, working with your coach on the course is very beneficial.
I had a good experience from them.. their visual based teaching helped me a lot.. you switch between clubs and drivers each class? And also do pratice pass with them?
Kind of. Prob like 75% iron lessons as I had never picked up a golf club before going in there and we just started there. What bothered me is I was getting better hitting my 7 iron consistently straight 135 yards so I asked to start working on driver. We do 2 drivers lessons and they then tell me my setup is all wrong and we need to undo everything. Like why didn’t we start with that??
Lessons are only gonna to get you so far. How often do you practice/play between lessons?
Play 9 holes once a month or so with friends. Practice for 1 hour at their locations once every other week (1 week is 30 min lesson, next week is 1 hour practice, repeat)
I have not heard of Golftech but from my experience golf takes incredible amounts of time to improve especially at the beginning. If you’ve been with them 6 months and you are practicing roughly 2 hours a month and playing 9 holes once a month that is only 12 hours of practice and 36 holes total.
I tweak my set up and grip every few months as bad habits creep in. When you first start there is so much you need to fix that coaches are going to continuously catch things
Depends on ultimately what your goals are? If you want to be scratch golfer get out of the simulator on to a real course and you will need to practice almost daily. 1 hr every other week is not going to do much to help you get better.
Little more detail on why I ask: worked on my iron game for like 4 months and actually got decently consistent then they told me last lesson my stance was completely wrong and we need to strip it all down back to the basics. Like why did you not fix that long time ago?
I can understand that frustration… hopefully you’ve gotten some good lessons since this post!
I know from my experience with teaching golf and playing as well is that the driver stance and set-up is a little different than with the irons (ball is more forward in stance with driver, lead shoulder should feel higher than back shoulder with the driver, etc.)… maybe the GolfTec coach had a tough time communicating the difference in set-ups between irons and driver.
I do know that GolfTec typically hires newer coaches that don’t have as much experience as say a Head Pro at a country club. So could be that this particular coach was newer to teaching!
Reading other comments I see you just started playing golf. My biggest suggestion as someone who had worked in the golf industry is to pick up the game yourself first.
I started playing about 10 years ago and learned from watching youtube videos and watching the PGA Tour. After getting the basics, it would then be beneficial to get lessons as you will have some sort of basic swing form.
Run
I used Golftec one time. Got a free session with them. At the time I had the shanks and it was killing me. Through the few drills the guy had me do he kind of fixed it and got me hitting pretty normal on most shots again.
I think it is definitely worth it but I always tell people that lessons should always come after you have established some sort of swing for yourself. I never suggest getting lessons as a beginner golfer (not sure how long you have been playing) **I used to work in the golf industry
