Thoughts on Out and Equal being held in Orlando, Florida given all of the state sanctioned hate and discrimination? Equality Florida recently issued a travel advisory. How are people feeling about the situation, are you all planning to attend? Do you have any reservations and or concerns about your safety?

What is wrong with you people replying here? I am not part of the LGBTQ+ community but it is absolutely apparent that Florida is actively driving a hate agenda against homosexuals and transgender based on ideology and religion, all while ignoring science and education best practices.
It basically forbids teachers to talk about their own sexual identity and family life, believes it knows better than education experts, school boards and teachers what kids should be taught and which books should be banned. It repressively acts against a company for speaking out against Florida’s anti LGBTQ+ policies instead of respecting its freedom of speech.
How can anyone criticize progressives for driving an inclusive culture that protects minorities and actually values their individual life choices? How can you be proud to be anti woke while not even understanding what it actually means and without proposing any solutions how we can better include, enable and protect minorities? The lack of empathy for others and missing respect for different life choices and other people’s freedom always puzzles me.
The conservative agenda is fueling hate crimes and discrimination instead of protecting the most vulnerable people in our society.
So I think OP’s concerns are absolutely valid and their feelings should be respected.
FA 1 Trying to pass off anomalies as a norm is not science.
OP- I’m curious what you think daily life it like for gay people in Florida.
I live here and feel perfectly comfortable being myself. What is portrayed on TV isn’t necessarily reflective of the realities of daily life.
You notice Equality Florida isn't leaving.
“State sanctioned hate”? Bit of an overreach there but guess that’s the way people think in 2023…
Omg so embarrassed by PwC3…. 🤦🏻♀️
Weird that so many people on this thread are in a lgbtqia bowl to actively advocate the suppression of their equality 😒
Y’all aren’t even saying specifically what you have an issue with. Name a thing. Not a concept but a thing.
Abbbbsolutely not K1 and P1. OP your concerns are valid and Florida is literally priding itself on policies hostile to the LGBTQ+community. I would agree that the choice for a host state seems tone deaf at best, possibly unsafe at worst. I know very little about Out and Equal, but sometimes the host city of these national nonprofit/affinity conferences is chosen sometimes years in advance. It may be worth reaching out to the conference organizers to raise your concerns and see if they have thought about this and have any response.
Not valid!
If anyone is looking for the bigots, they’re all in these comments
Cringe mck1
Lmao y’all making up reality & oppression
“State sanctioned hate”
“Actively targeting LGBTQ community”
Some pretty strong overreach there! Relax.. not every opinion that’s not yours is hate or active targeting!
These replies are wild.
The demand for discrimination just heavily, heavily outweighs the supply. Unreal
I actively urge people to avoid Florida, Tennessee, Texas and other states that enforce anti-LGBTQIA+ laws in their state, and I have called a friend out directly on his choice to take his family on vacation to Daytona Beach.
If people are truly allies, they would be aware of the fact that fewer tourism dollars = less tax revenue for these governments to spend = more disgruntled voters = these politicians out of office.
And for this, we need the support of not only the LGBTQIA+ community AND our allies. Otherwise, things will continue to go downhill when it comes to our civil and human rights.
Yeah florida will be fine. So many people are moving there they’ll be fine.
I actually have been thinking a lot about this (KPMG’s training campus is in FL too) and have been really frustrated with the silence of the firm). I hope D breaks the mold!
A2: Your privilege is showing 😉
These comments.. That is why kids that come from a foreign country that have a strong accent still perform better than so many American kids in college. While they were learning complex math and other useful things in elementary, middle and high school our teachers are teaching our kids about this nonsense. Bravo! By the way, as a parent yes I do have a say what my child will learn and do not need teachers teaching them anything but what the school is meant for in the first place.
There are still no actual facts besides feelings being claimed as facts
I’m surprised there are so many outdated opinions on this thread from so many big 4 folks. EY promotes equality and inclusivity and it’s disappointing to see that there are people that don’t seem to agree with those views.
I agree with you because why would they choose Florida of all places for an inclusive event? I know a lot of people like going to Florida and Orlando especially is big for tourism so that’s my only guess.
^this
Very interested to hear your opinion on (let’s say) NY.. a state that’s “actively planning to kill unborn babies” 😂
A2- and yet, similar laws passed in Ohio and Texas that claim to have those loopholes still stifle access to reproductive health services. We can do this all day.

These are not “edge cases” or “extreme circumstances”. These are the consequences of passing truly boneheaded legislation that doesn’t take into account the fact that women need healthcare, and healthcare gets complicated very quickly.
If sex Ed shouldn’t be taught until the teens lgbtq sexual related things should be the same. Not sure why we need kids to be taught about these things at such a young age where they are friends with everyone
Not every parent does and if any parent can sue the school then no conversation is had and all kids go uninformed.
The reality is that the bill is bad because it will cost tax payers money and halt schools from discussing any subject that could end up in a lawsuit. It might also affect employment decisions on the basis of a teacher’s sexual orientation to avoid controversy.
There are no requirements to be a parent but there are requirements to be an educator, schools have guidances based on research and the experience of educators that have been teaching children for many years. Why should all of that go out the window? If a parent wants to keep their kid in a bubble, they can homeschool, or have them in a private school. Plenty of places that will allow parents to tell their kids that being gay is wrong and for them to internalize it but why make it the experience of every kid?
I think it’s less oppression and people asking for more privilege than the average person
What does this mean? Can you elaborate?
There isn't "state sanctioned hate". There is, however, hate pushed by the political hack group Equality Florida for fundraising purposes. At the same time, EF hurts Florida gays and gay businesses while pretending to stand for them. Pushing leftist agenda (hate) for donations is what's important, not you.
I automatically cringe at anyone saying « blacks » instead of black people. It’s usually a tell on how not with the times they are
Ppl in this thread must not party because like have you heard of Miami??
