Depends on where you're coming in from a role and space perspective. Many clients are local, but some groups work more regionally or even nationally. One thing I'd say is be reasonably certain that you're interested in life sciences. PM me if you have more specific questions.
Don’t listen to people saying you have to be interested in life sciences, but would say you have to be OPEN to it.
Pretty significant growth in non-life science over past two years in particular.
I would caveat your last statement and argue that, as an incoming Associate or even Consultant, you will have very little ability to put yourself on a PI project in Philly. Even if you get on one, consistency is another matter. No need to oversell relative to the bulk of the actual work.
What does ZS do besides pls and even specifically marketing and research consulting to pharma? I’m not trying to challenge, just always thought you guys almost exclusively (and very successfully) operated in that space
Life sciences are still the vast majority, but our “priority industries” (everything else) has been growing by 100s of %s a year.
Largest other practice areas now are: private equity, high tech, travel and transportation, industrials and consumer durables (latter two aren’t formal areas but have large number of clients).
Projects themselves tend to be focused in sales / commercial transformation (think sizing, structure, go-to-market strategy), marketing strategy (think value prop, journey, segmentation, etc.) or revenue management (exclusively T&T).
Clients recently have included FAANG, airlines, PE port cos (MM only), etc.
It’s fairly office specific - tends to be either Chicago or SF - but can be majority of work in some places.
