I'm currently unemployed since July because my position was eliminated. I'm 61 and it's challenging to find opportunities for older people.
I interviewed for a position at a major retailer and I was told a certain rate of pay and the offer came back for a different position and a lower rate of pay. I questioned it and was told everyone gets paid the same amount and the interviewer was new sorry. I accepted the offer because I need an income but when I went to the group orientation, I asked the HR person a question and she snapped at me. Then she scolded me like one of her children because I didn't get enough e-learning completed. There were two different parts and I did the wrong ones because I didn't know. Their app kept signing us out and I lost the page. I ended up returning a few days later and declining the position. If you are not going to be treated with respect before you start working for them how are they going to be later?

Wow, that sucks. Making something instead of nothing would have been a plus. But you’re right. If you’re talked down to in orientation it’s not going to get any better.

I can be the same way. If it’s not worth doing your best it’s not worth doing.
I guess I would say, on your free time, but these losers, for some folks, got you a scheduled for Monday-Friday because you must be doing "something" right. Just apply for what you really think makes you happy in the legitimate job spectrum. Nothing more....nothing less

Finding a job where your work doesn’t feel like extra work would definitely be a great way to handle it.
My wife is working for a company where everyone on her team is overwhelmed and overworked. But just this week she got an awesome call from her boss. The folks at the top had noticed and are giving all non new hires a cost of living pay bump. And it may not impact their end of year pay review.

That would definitely help morale!
